Michael Donald Altiere, 71, Inverness, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Nov 4, 2011 in HPH Hospice of Lecanto. Born Nov 9, 1939 in New Haven CT., the son of the late Michael and Fay (Ansaldo) Altiere, he owned and operated Five Star Automotive. Survivors include his wife, Donna; 2 sons, Tony of Lecanto and Donald of Inverness; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Michael “Gator” Altiere, Feb 3, 2008. Clifton E Baird, 92, Floral City, FL
Clifton Eugene Baird, 92, Floral City, died Dec 12, 2011 in Inverness. Born in Jellico, Tennessee, on June 28, 1919, the youngest of thirteen children to the late Joshua D. and Nancy (Perkins) Baird, Cliff and his family were longtime residents of Salem, IN. He founded Baird Home Corporation in 1947 which is still in operation today into the fourth generation. He and Violet moved to Citrus County in 1969 from Tampa. Cliff was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City for almost 40 years. One of his greatest joys was playing on the church softball team. He was an advocate of nature, spending time outdoors, and hunting. Cliff enjoyed sharing his faith and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Violet Zink Baird; three surviving children, Ernie (Carolyn) Baird, Salem, IN; Kenny (Nancy) Baird, Muskogee, OK; Jeanie (Dean) Humphrey, Fruitland Park, FL; 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Wichman. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 15th at 11:00 AM from First Baptist Church of Floral City with Rev. Eddie Quates officiating. Additional services and burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery of Salem, IN under the direction of Weather's Funeral Home. The Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home of Inverness is in charge locally. He retired from the Town of Dix, NY as the Superintendent of Highways with 38 years of service. He is a member of Calvary Chapel of Inverness; past officer of the Hernando Civic Association; member of Schuyler County Highway Superintendent's Association, past president of New York State Highway Superintendent's Association, and former member of Sullivan Trail Counsel of Boy Scouts. Rita P. Beccari, 83, of Inverness, Florida passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at Hospice of Citrus County, Inverness. She was born on May 17, 1928 in Chepachet, Rhode Island to the late Alden and Bertha (Devaudreuil) Ballou. Rita was a secretary in the Air Conditioning business, and a Catholic by faith. She arrived in the area in 1972, coming from Foster, Rhode Island, and enjoyed ceramics, sewing, and working outdoors. Rita is predeceased by one brother, Alden Ballou. Survivors include: Two brothers; Richard Ballou of Chepachet, Rhode Island, and Charles Ballou of Inverness, Florida; and three sisters; Bertha Waters and Gerrude Ohan of Connecticut; and Rose Babbitt of Naples, Florida. BARBARA E. BRUNER, age 86, Inverness, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her residence. Barbara was born on August 10, 1925 in Rollette, North Dakota to the late Edson and Pearl Armstrong and came to this area in 1995 from Tampa. She was a cashier for Kash-n-Karry for many years. She enjoyed going to the beach, reading and working in her garden. She was Methodist by faith. Survivors include her daughter Sandra Smith, formerly of Gibsonton, now residing in Inverness; her son George and wife Uteva Medich, Riverview, FL, four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, James W. Bruner on May 11, 2009. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Burial will follow at the Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. The family will receive friends in visitation from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service.

Ethel May Carpenter, 80, Inverness, died Dec 16, 2011 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. She was a 4 year resident of Woodlands Terrace and enjoyed their loving care and attention. Mrs Carpenter was born March 25, 1931 in Chelsea, MA to the late John and Eleanor (Hudson) Thistle and moved to this area in 2004 from Peabody, MA. She was a member of the Parkinson's Association and enjoyed watching her television shows and playing cards. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Donald; her brother, John Thistle, Jr. of Williamsburg, VA; 2 sisters, MiriamElla Nardone of Inverness and Doris Parsons of Beverly Hills; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Jack W. Casto,81, of Inverness, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011. He was born in Danese, West Virginia on April 14, 1930 to the late William and Pearl (Heaster) Casto. Jack arrived in the area in 1989, coming from Charleston, West Virginia. He was a Methodist by faith, and an avid golfer. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce, and former owner/operator of several Dairy Queens in Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Rebecca Casto. Other survivors include one son, Greg (Jakey) Casto of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters, Lisa C. (Mike) Malcom of Hemet, California, and Jan C. Betty Ann Croft, 71, Inverness passed away Dec. 11, 2011 at the Miami home of her sister and brother in law following an extended illness. She is survived by sons, Vernon Wayne Templeman of Colorado; Michael Croft of Georgia; J. Croft and wife, Linda of Inverness; grandchildren, Donnie, Chelsea, and Eddie; her sister, Jean Gossett and husband Jim of Miami; her aunt, Edna Ulrey of Kentucky and special cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Gerald J. Cunningham, Jr., 59, of Hernando, Florida passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at Hospice of Citrus County in Inverness. He was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on November 24, 1952 to the late Gerald J. and Mary (Voutour) Cunningham, Sr. Gerald served as a loyal employee of Verizon for more than 30 years before retiring in the area in 2008, coming from Boston, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Citrus Hills Country Club, and enjoyed tennis, the beach, and motorcycles. He also enjoyed working with his hands, especially landscaping. Gerald is survived by one son, Christopher Cunningham of Seattle, Washington; and one daughter, Shannon Cunningham of Boston, Massachusetts. He is also survived by three sisters, Nancy Gibbons of North Hampton, New Hampshire; Jean Cunningham of Magnolia, Massachusetts; and Mary Dervishian of York, Maine. RAYMOND E. DAMPMAN, age 78, Inverness, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 under the care of his loving family and Hospice of Citrus County. Ray was born on December 23, 1933 in Caroll County, Illinois to the late Clarence and Ethel (Kruder) Dampman and came to this area in 1976 from Stockton, IL. He was the owner/operator of his own trucking company. Ray enjoyed NASCAR racing, liked traveling to antique tractor shows and was particularly fond of the Oliver tractors. He liked going to yard sales and flea markets. He was a member of Hernando United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 2 years, Patricia A. Dampman; two sons David Dampman, IL and Jason and his wife Kim Dampman, Dade City, FL; his daughter Jennifer and her husband Jared Hartman, Ocala, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda in 2008 and his only sister, Virginia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hernando United Methodist Church. JAMES R. DAVIS, SR. age 70, Floral City, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. A native of Saginaw, Michigan, James was born on March 24, 1941 to the late Fred and Alice (Lamb) Davis and came to this area in 1967 from there. James was employed as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed boating and fishing and socializing with his family and friends. He was Baptist by faith. Survivors include his wife of four years, Jean Davis, Floral City; three sons, Scott M. Davis, Inverness, James R. Davis, Jr., Floral City and Vern P. (Barbara) Davis, Floral City; his daughter Michelle Marie (Wayne) Hayes, Floral City; sister Bonnie Kline, Troy, Michigan, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Hildegard Debré, 79, of Hernando, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2011 at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab Center, Lecanto, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bretten, Baden-Wurttenberg, Germany, on February 6, 1932 to the late Eugene and Frieda (Pfitzenmaier) Dürr. Hildegard arrived in Citrus County 15 years ago, coming from Greenville, New York. Hildegard enjoyed knitting, crafting, reading, and spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her brothers Franz Dürr and Hermann Dürr, sister Gertrude Dezenter, grandson Samuel Myers and nephew Horst Eppenbach. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Michael Debre'. She will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Erika (F. Daniel) Myers of Slate Hill, New York; Gertraud (William) Ellert of Goshen, New York; Andrea (Paul) Slaght of Hernando, Florida, and her son Christopher (Penny) Debré of New Hampton, New York; two sisters, Anneliese Eppenbach of Hernando, Florida, and Lotte Bazner of Germany; seven grandchildren, Margaret Myers Villamil, F. Daniel Myers IV, Courtney Ellert, Amy Reynolds Roberts, Chelsea Ellert, Michael Reynolds and Logan Debre'; and two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Roberts and Frederick Villamil. A native of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, he was born on November 7, 1930 to the late Primitivo and Paula Diaz and came to this area in 2004 from Stuart, FL. He served our country in the United States Army. Jaime was owned his own professional photography studio. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys and daughter and her husband Luz and Orlando Rivera, all of Citrus Springs, his son Jose J. Diaz and his wife Sonia of Puerto Rico, five grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Private cremation arrangements.

Frederick Phillip Drew, 18, Inverness, died on October 2, 2011. Fred was born in New Port Richey, FL on April 16, 1993 to Joseph and Kelly (Chapman) Drew. He graduated from Citrus High School, class of 2011 where he excelled in several sports include the wrestling team, varsity football team (team captain), and weight lifting where he attained All State status. He was scheduled to receive a full wrestling scholarship from Bloomsburg University. Raised in the Episcopal Faith, he was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church in Inverness where he served as an acolyte. Fred leaves his father, Joseph P. Drew, Inverness; his mother, Kelly Lynn Williams of Holiday, FL; 5 brothers and sisters, Joseph Frederick Drew , Frank Angelo Drew, Madalene Clare Drew all of Inverness; Giovanna Lorraine Drew and Gail Nadine Drew, both of Friday Harbor, WA; paternal grandmother, Francesca Mastrandrea, Inverness; maternal grandfather, James Chapman; aunts and uncles, Jennifer and Stephen Schotter and Joseph and Eleanor Lopez; his niece and nephew Rylee and Zayden and cousins, Stephen and Daniel Schotter. Howard E Drinkwater, 93, Inverness, FL
HOWARD EVERETT DRINKWATER, age 93, Inverness, died November 6, 2011 under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he moved from Westbury, Long Island to Inverness in 1979. He was a graduate of New York University and retired from City Bank New York where he was the Vice-President, responsible for the investment of sizeable funds received from various foreign governments, such as Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, into domestic investments and government obligations. This also resulted in his having a private audience with Pope Paul VI in Rome. He was a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal after participating in the invasion of Europe. He was then flown to China and was involved in the opening of the Port of Shanghai. He was a member of the Massachusetts Society of Mayflower Descendants, Inverness Golf and Country Club and the First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. He is survived by his wife of five years, Katherine Holmes Drinkwater, Inverness, two stepsons Robert and wife Nancy Holmes, Redlands, CA and William Holmes, Inverness; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Evelyn in 1999. A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Florida National Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the procession to the cemetery at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory at 1:15 P.M. ESTHER T. FORTNA, age 78, Inverness, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at her niece's residence. Esther was born on October 21, 1933 in Staten Island, NY to the late Thomas and Esther (Lynn) McCafferty and relocated to this area ten years ago from St. Petersburg. She was a homemaker and a parishioner at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Survivors include two brothers, Edward (Joy) McCafferty, Seminole, FL and Michael (Deborah) McCafferty, New York; two sisters Kathleen Jorgensen, Hernando, FL and Marianne Cunningham, Columbus, NC; several nieces and nephews and her faithful companions, her dogs Katie and Arthur. Mary “Cate” Foye, 78, of Hernando, Florida passed away Monday, October 24, 2011. She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on May 27, 1933 to the late Walter and Margaret (Finneral) Early. Mary arrived in the area in 1991 coming from Lowell, and was a summer resident in Belmont, New Hampshire. She attended St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, and was a member of the American-Irish Club, where she was the librarian, and also coordinated activities for the physically challenged, as well as taught exceptional children. Mary was an avid reader, accomplished artist and pianist. She also started the first, all female “Teens Encounter Christ” retreat (TEC) in Andover, Massachusetts and New York. She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Coughlin. Survivors include her husband of 60 ½ years Jim Foye; 1 son Seamus and his wife Michele Foye; 2 daughters, Kathleen and her husband Ken; and Colleen Foye; 3 grandchildren, Heather, Shannon, and Jillian; and 3 great-grandchildren, Kendria, Nicholas, and Gabrielle. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Jo Weaver of St. Petersburg, 9 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Randall William Gains and her husband, Clifford W. Gains. George Brown Grant, 84, of Floral City, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2011 under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born September 2, 1927 in Salem, Massachusetts, he was the son of Alexander L. and Louise (Brown) Grant. After graduating from Swampscott High School in 1945, George served in the United States Navy during WWII. He moved to Miami, Florida in 1953, where he met and married Imogene “Jean” Copeland in 1955. He retired in 1972 from the Southeast Banking Corporation and moved to Floral City with his wife and two sons. George was active in community affairs, serving on the board of directors of the Citrus County Fair Association, and was a long time member of the Floral City Lions Club and the Floral City Masonic Lodge #133 F&AM, where he served as Master in 1977. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: daughter, Janet and husband Steve MacIntosh of Salt Lake City, UT, and their children, Kelly Vittum and husband Mark, of Sandy, UT, Grant Rippetoe and wife, Sarah of Hong Kong, China; sons Bill and wife Nadia of Marathon, FL and their daughter, Alina; Douglas and wife Martha and their children, Andrew and his wife Carrie, and Emma, all of Charlotte, NC and four great grandchildren and niece, Grace Copeland of Floral City. George was preceded in death by his wife Jean in 2008. Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 21st at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, with Mr. Michael Raine of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ, officiating, followed by Masonic services conducted by the Masonic Memorial Lodge #19. Barbara Marie Hannett, 75, Inverness, died at home on Nov 15, 2011 under the loving care of her family, close friends, and Hospice of Citrus County. Barbara was born on Aug 3, 1936 to the late Anthony and Marie (Washolovich) Vukson and came to Citrus County in 1976 from Dover, Deleware. She was a retired Registered Nurse, having served her profession for over 50 years, 27 of them at Citrus Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of St Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Trenton, NJ and attended the University of Wisconsin. Barbara also served as a Hospice volunteer and was a long time member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Survivors include her 3 children, Brady Hannett and wife Lisa of Inverness; Jeffery Hannett and wife Stephanie of Riverview, FL; Dawn Hannett of Inverness; 9 grandchildren: Jade, Daniel, Cody, Topher, Dylan, Brooke, Sarah, Ryan, and Olivia. She was predeceased by her brother, Lawrence Vukson in 1985. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, Nov. 21st at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Tina was born July 30, 1915 in Negaunee, Michigan to the late Charles and Elizabeth Hakkarainen and came to this area in 1998 from Holiday, Florida. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and gardening. A native of Kenova, West Virginia, Manford was born on June 6, 1921 to the late George Custer and Martha (Cornwell) Hartman and came to this area in 1984 from St. Petersburg. A proud veteran and extremely patriotic man, he served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. He was employed as the maintenance supervisor of Bay Pines VA Hospital. Red enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family and his best buddy, his dog Rascal. He was a member of VFW Post #7122 of Floral City and a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Bernice Hartman, Floral City; twin daughters Karen (Gail) Phifer, St. Petersburg and Marian (Alfred) Bonanno, Jacksonville; his son Manford Lee (Jean) Hartman, Jr., Oxford, FL. He was born on February 11, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to the late Peter and Minerva (Sterken) Heyboer. Orville arrived in the area in 2000, coming from Grand Rapids, Michigan; and was a Production Manager for General Motors Corp. He was a Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, and a Protestant by faith. Orville was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Loretta Elder-Heyboer. LEWIS K. HILL, M/Sgt., USAF (Ret), age 80 of Inverness died at home on November 30, 2011 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Mr. Hill was born on August 30, 1931 in Carbon Hill, Alabama, to the late Sam and Margaret (Walden) Hill and came to this area in 1975 from Orange Park, Florida. He retired from the US Air Force after 22 years of service where he was a radar technician and technical writer. After arriving in Inverness, he was an ROTC instructor at Citrus High School. Lewis was a 50 year member of the Brookside Masonic Lodge No. 552 of Brookside, AL. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. William was a machine repairman for General Motors Corporation, served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army, and was a Methodist. Dorothea A. “Dottie” Lavery, 79, of Inverness passed away Monday, October 10, 2011. She was born in Rochester, New York on August 31, 1932. Dorothy arrived in the area 32 years ago, coming from Rochester, and was a member of Our Lady Of Fatima Catholic Church. She loved playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, entertaining, and spending time with her family; as well as spending time at her cottage in New York which she enjoyed for 77 years. He served our country in the U.S. Army and was a long time member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters, Local No. 123 of Ft. Lauderdale. She was a long time member of the First Assembly of God Church in Inverness where she taught Sunday School and served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years as well as President of the Women's Ministry. Harold Richard “Dick” Neal, 82 of Inverness died Nov 5, 2011 in the Hospice Unit of Citrus Memorial Hospital. A native of Bellaire, OH, he was born March 5, 1929 to the late Harold and Edna (Giffin) Neal. Mr. Neal came to Inverness in 2007 from Ft Myers, FL where he was a Licensed Funeral Director/Manager and Embalmer for the Harvey-Englehart-Metz Funeral Home from 1976 until his retirement in Inverness. He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and practiced his profession for over 50 years, beginning his career in Ft. Lauderdale at the Fannin-Baird Case Funeral Homes. Dick was active in the community in which he lived, having served as President of the Plantation Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club where he served as Lt-Governor. His affiliations included the Royal Palm Yacht Club in the Ft. Myers area, and after moving to Inverness, he joined the First Presbyterian Church. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Dick leaves his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Freyler) Neal; 1 brother, James A. In 1972, Virginia and her late husband, Paul moved to Inverness and built the Westgate Shopping Plaza where they owned and operated the Westgate Furniture Store. They returned to Ellijay, Georgia in 1985. In 2008 she moved back to Inverness with her daughter, Marsha. She is survived by her daughter Marsha Quarles and her grandson, Kevin Whaley both of Inverness. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. Mark was an avid stage and studio musician who played several instruments including guitars, drums, and keyboards. Mark also enjoyed golfing and playing poker with good friends. JOHN MARTIN STANKO, age 66, Inverness, died Friday, November 25, 2011 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. John was born on March 20, 1945 in Newark, NJ to the late Andrew and Eleanor (Geidosch) Stanko. He owned his own painting business John Stanko Painting for many years. John was a true sports fan, enjoying golfing, football, fishing and especially riding his Harley-Davidson. John was currently serving as the Vice-President of the IRRU Social Club of Inverness and was a member of the Men's Auxiliary of VFW #7122 of Floral City. Survivors include his wife of 2 years, Mary Taylor-Stanko, Inverness; two daughters, Denise (Michael) Carpenter, Inverness and Kimberly (Charles) Petty, Elba, AL; two brothers, Andrew Stanko, Roy UT and Matthew Stanko, Crystal River; two sisters Carol John, Roy, UT and Sandra Valvano, Springhill, FL; eight grandchildren; Candace Anderson, Tanya Newbill, Guy Anderson, III, Megan Anderson, Morgan Anderson Benbow, Tyler Anderson, Kacie Carpenter and Travis Carpenter, three great-grandchildren Emma Grace Adkison, Brayden Anderson and Wyatt Merry. CARL EUGENE STEPHENS, age 89, Inverness, died Sunday, October 16, 2011 at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. Carl was born on June 1, 1922 in Thomasville, Georgia to the late Willie B. Stephens, Sr. and Hattie (Strickland) Stephens and came to this area in 1983 from Clearwater. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. Carl was employed as the manager of Pinellas Lumber Company for 33 years and then Suncoast Roofing Supply. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and gardening. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Doris A. Stephens, Inverness; two daughters Sharon and husband Rodney Levins, Crystal River and Kay and husband Greg Richardson, Pine Ridge, FL, two brothers Donald of St. Petersburg, FL and James of San Antonio, FL, five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was a retired Quality Control Supervisor for the Ford Motor Company in Sharonville, OH and a charter member of the Inverness Eagles Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lucille Strother; a son, Bernard Strother, Jr. of Granger, IN; his daughter, Rebecca Hofer, Kershaw, SC; a stepson, David Duquette of Nashville, TN; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline Perrine of Naples, FL; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Major Arlyn "Al" A Sukut, 78, Inverness, Fl
Major Arlyn “Al” Aaron Sukut, U.S. Air Force (Ret), 78, Inverness, died Oct 10, 2011 in Citrus Health & Rehab. A native of Wishek, North Dakota, he was born March 1, 1933 to the late Aaron and Lea Rose (Seiler) Sukut and moved to Citrus County in 1976 from Alabama. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Major with 21 years of service. After arriving in Inverness, he taught R.O.T.C. at Citrus High School for 19 years. Major Sukut was a graduate of North Dakota University and held two Masters Degrees, one from the University of Missouri, the other from the University of South Florida. Always an active member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness, he served on their Board of Deacons and was Sunday School Director. Other affiliations included the Retired Teacher's Association and Gideons International, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes, an organization which he founded. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce (Seeklander) Sukut; two daughters, Juleeann Carey and husband, Rick of Ocala and Kathy Jo Moore of Atlanta, GA; brother Harvey of Fargo, ND and two sisters, Darlene Weisser of San Leadro, CA and Jean Kraft, Washington State; three grandchildren, Molliy, Dallas, and Connor Carey. Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, Oct 14th at 10:00 AM from First Baptist Church of Inverness with Rev. Donnie Seagle and Dr. Babb Adams officiating. Judith Arlene Tanner, 72, Inverness, died Dec 15, 2011 in Ocala. Judy was born Nov 16, 1939 in Boyne City, MI to the late Maxwell W. and Doris (Weeks) Houck. She owned and operated the Hardy Insurance Agency in Harrison, MI prior to moving to Florida. Judy enjoyed spending time with her husband, John, while camping, going to the casino, and spending the summers in Michigan with family and friends. Her hobbies included jewelry, making and collecting dolls, knitting, and arts and crafts. Additionally, Judy loved to drive her Mustang convertible. She was very much loved by her friends and family, having a giving and generous heart. She also especially loved her two dogs, Sophie and Sarah. Judy is survived by her husband, Thaddeus John Tanner; 4 sons, Daniel Hardy, Joel (Jean) Hardy, Jim (Jill) Hardy, Travis (Angie) Hardy, her daughter, Mira Brandon and husband, Bryce; Scott (Nancy) Tanner, Joshua (Shay) Tanner; 2 brothers, Max (Janice) Houck and their children, Joshua, Justin, Jeremy, and Kerri Houck; another brother, Brad Houck; her sister, Janet Kotalik and her children, John (Ann) Kotalik, Darcy (Sandra) Kotalik, Gary (Teresa) Kotalik, Jeff (Julie) Kotalik, and Julie (DeWayne) DeGayner. Fred was born on October 28, 1938 in Elmira, NY to the late Leigh E. and Eunice (Harrington) Thomas and moved to this area in 1998 from Montour Falls, NY. Fred retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service as a boatswain mate. He then continued his working career as a mechanic for Cornell. Fred enjoyed fishing and boating and spending his time on the water. He liked to socialize and spend time with friends and his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW Post #7122 of Floral City, the American Legion of Floral City and the Fleet Reserve as well as the Withlapopka Civic Association. Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Yvonne G. Thomas, Floral City, his son Frederick R. Thomas, Jr. (Brenda) of Kinston, NC, two daughters Selene Thomas, Horseheads, NY and Cindi (Mark) Lurcock, Hammondsport, NY, his brother Michael (Debbie) Thomas, Orange City, FL and sister Anna Plattborze, Floral City; his Mother-in-Law C. Barbara is predeceased by her husband Thomas Wood; brother George Kenney; and sister Susan Kenney. She is survived by her mother Dorothy Kenney of Inverness.
