Lorraine Adams, 85, Floral City, FL
Lorraine Adams, 85, passed away peacefully at her home in Floral City, Florida on March 29, 2013. She was born on December 24, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York to John Leaver and Sarah Leaver Serocki. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her beautiful caring spirit brought happiness and laughter to everyone who knew her; she will be deeply missed by her daughter, family and friends. Lorraine grew up in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from Fordham University. She was a devout Catholic who began her life-long career in teaching, working with disadvantaged children. She believed that all children deserve an equal and fair education and that each unique child had something positive to contribute. She was named Floral City Elementary teacher of the year in 1990. She was much beloved by her students. Lorraine married  Thomas Matthew Adams in 1963 in  Brentwood, New York. They were happily married for 42 years. Lorraine was preceded in death by  her parents John Leaver and Sarah Serocki, her stepfather Joseph Serocki, husband Thomas Matthew Adams, and sister Doris Golebuski. She is survived by her daughter Julia Marie Adams and son-in-law Neil Scheurich, and grandchildren Julia and Ethan Scheurich of Wake Forest, North Carolina; sister Peggy Adams of Port Jefferson, New York; nieces Mary Arbeit of Setauket, New York and Carol Woodruff of Aurora, Colorado; her great-nieces, great-nephews; her former son-in-law Thomas Leggett of Durham, North Carolina and other relatives. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, April 4th , 11:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Fr. Erwin Belgica, celebrant. Burial will follow in Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Reposing will be on Wednesday from 2-4 & 5-7 PM at Chas E Davis Funeral Home. Dolores A Agen, 78, Inverness, FL
DOLORES "DUNKIE" ANN AGEN, 78, Inverness, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at her home on Gospel Island under the care of her loving family and HPH Hospice. She was born in Jefferson County, Wisconsin to the late Edward J. and Grace C. (Frye) Janney on April 8, 1934. The family moved to Dunedin, Florida from Wisconsin in 1951 and she soon married her high school sweetheart, Phillip L. Agen, her husband of 55 years, who has preceded her in death on March 7, 2007. The Agen's moved to Inverness in 1986 and owned and operated their business, "All About Windows" for about 10 years. She was a seamstress by trade. Dolores is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Hope D. Darling and her brother, John E. Janney. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Dalinda (husband, Burt) Beem, Inverness, Deborah Head, Inverness and son, Edward (wife, Marcy Dubois) Agen, Inverness; grandsons, Larry R. Dolores was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. Dolores liked to garden, play cards and be with her family. Dolores was a member of the Methodist Church. David W. Alford, age 66, West Virginia and winter residents here for three years, died Thursday, February 7, 2013. David was born on February 13, 1946 to the late Richard and Mary (Willis) Alford. He served our country in the United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed geo-caching and making model airplanes. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Bonnie Alford; his son Sean Alford, daughters Tara (Brian) Ray and Jessika (Clete) Fisher, all of Hurricane, WV; brothers Barry (Anne) Alford, St. George, UT and Mike (Stacie) Alford, Cheyenne, WY; sister Joy Alford, Cheyenne, WY; ten grandchildren. Glenn E Barber, 82, Inverness, FL
GLENN E. BARBER, age 82, Inverness, died March 10, 2013 surrounded by his family and under the loving care of the staff of Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. Glenn was born on February 15, 1931 in Northfield, OH to the late Gus and Garnet (Boswell) Barber and moved to this area in 1995 from Northeast, Florida. Glenn worked as an upholsterer at the Taylor Chair Company in Bedford, OH before moving to Florida in 1973. He then worked at Gulfstar and Viking Yachts in upholstery and at the end of his working career, he was a final finish supervisor. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Pauline (Tuennerman) Barber; three daughters, Deborah (Harry) Young, Brooksville, Gail (Bob) Slovinac, Jacksonville, FL and Catherine (John) Bowers, Land O' Lakes, FL; brother Ray (Mary Jo) Barber, PA; sisters Betty James, VA; grandchildren, Charles G. Johnson, Travis P. Johnson, Corey Walko, Caity Bowers and Jenna Rose Bowers and great-grandchildren Ayden and Skye Johnson. EUNICE MARIE BECK, age 75, Inverness, died March 10, 2013 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Gainesville, Florida, Eunice was born on December 30, 1937 to the late William and Claira Robinson. She was employed as a nurse's aide at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Emmett (Ruby) Beck, Inverness, Tony (Elaine) Beck, Newberry, FL and daughter Charlotte (Edward) Swistack, Fruitland Park, FL, brother Shane Robinson and Eloise Mixon, Gainesville; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Ingrid L Berg, 70, Lecanto, FL
INGRID LUCIA BERG, age 70, Lecanto, died January 17, 2013 at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Ingrid was born in Germany on October 25, 1942 to the late August and Lucia (Krol) Leder. She became a master beautician in her native country after serving an apprenticeship. Upon arriving in the United States, she was a homemaker and avid gardener who also enjoyed oil painting. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Andy, his wife Jackie Dillersberger and their children Lucia and Andreas, Homosassa; daughter Anabel Dillersberger, Lecanto. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo George Berg in 1993 and her brother, George Leder. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Inverness. Chas. E. Kenneth R Bergdoll, Jr., 74, Inglis, FL
KENNETH R. BERGDOLL, JR. age 74, formerly of Hernando, died March 28, 2013 at his son's home in Inglis. Kenneth was born on May 27, 1938 in Detroit, MI to the late Kenneth R. Bergdoll, Sr. and Gloria (Pearce) Hardenstine. He served our country in the United States Air Force. Kenneth owned and operated his own construction business. A devoted family man, he enjoyed reading, listening to music and socializing with his friends. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Kenneth R. Audrey Jean Berger, age 84, died March 31, 2013 at her residence. Audrey was born on January 22, 1929 in Binghamton, NY to the late Leslie and Miriam Berger. JOHN JOSEPH BILODEAU, age 71, died February 3, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. John was born on November 30, 1941 in Salem, MA to the late Emile and Rose (Comier) Bilodeau. He served our country in the United States Marine Corp. John was an electronics engineer and designer. He enjoyed using his HAM and CB radios. He was Catholic by faith. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 35 years, Letitia Bilodeau; his son Paul (Kelly) Bilodeau, Swamscott, MA; daughter Michelle (Shawn) O'Neil, Peabody, MA; his brother Stephen (Madeline) Bilodeau, Rotunda, FL; stepdaughter Marilyn Johnson, NC; grandchildren Carter, Morgan and Shana. Joseph M Body, 82, Hernando, FL
JOSEPH MICHAEL BODY, 82, Hernando, died Jan. 11, 2013 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mr. Body was born in Manville, NJ on Oct. 31, 1930 to the late Daniel and Helen Body. He moved to Citrus County in 1988 from East Meadow, NY, where he retired after 35 years from Pan American Airways as an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor. Mr. Body served in the USAF and is a veteran of the Korean Conflict. His love and growing knowledge of aviation ignited his long career with Pan Am, where his influence expanded to key management roles before his retirement. A skilled swimmer and a man with a passion for self-learning in many areas, Mr. Body lived a full, active life in his new community. Since his earliest years, he was dedicated to learning new skills and engaging them. He was an accomplished woodcraftsman and the consumate fix-it man. He built a woodworking shop for himself and spent countless hours in it doing what he loved -- creating. He was also a self-taught financial planner, building a deep understanding of economics over the years. Staying busy and involved were important values to Mr. Body. He worked at Whispering Pines Park as a park aide and also worked as a pool maintenance specialist. He and his wife traveled extensively, including a trip around the world. The birth of his granddaughter Tasha, in 1987, brought great joy to his life and he is remembered fondly for his care and dedication to her. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 60 years, Anne (Osyczka) Body, Hernando; two daughters, Joanne Osenenko and husband Derek of Woodstock, NY; Susan Madden and husband Kevin of East Meadow, NY; his brother, William of St. Louis, MO; 1 grandchild, Tasha. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 18th at 1:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Mary E. Boilard, 96, Lecanto died Jan 14, 2013. Mrs Boilard was born in Dunnellon, NJ on Sept 22, 1916 to the late Joseph and Anna (Udvari) Nagy and came to this area in 1978 from Martinsville, NJ. She was employed as a secretary for Randsom Machinary Company in Plainfield, NJ and was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Stahl and husband Jack of Lecanto, FL; 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Armand Boilard. Wanda Borgen, age 90, died February 25, 2013 at Ocala Regional Medical Center. Wanda was born on June 3, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY. She was a librarian in the New York Public Library System. John C. Bradford, age 90, Inverness died March 28, 2013. A native of Greenfield, TN., he was born Dec. 21, 1922 to Happle and Susie (Bell) Bradford, moving here from Martin, TN where he was a union pipe fitter for 40 years and served our country in the US Army during WW II. Survivors include his wife, Pearl; two children, John Bradford, Bowling Brook, IL; Linda Sue Grogan, Sharon, TN; two step sons, Thomas Wilson, Inverness; William Wilson, Stillman Valley, IL; a sister, Edna Olechnowicz, Chicago, IL; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Deborah Bradford. LEO FRANK BRIDGERS, age 77, Ocala, died March 17, 2013 at Sylvia's House under Hospice care. Leo was born on June 21, 1935 in Chester, PA to the late William and Mary (Spain) Bridgers. He served our country in the United States Navy. Leo was employed by Corning, Inc. in the optical fibers division as a draw operator. He enjoyed traveling, NASCAR races and after retirement drove a bus in Jackson, WY for many years, transporting people for white water river rafting. Phyllis was born on December 17,1935 in Raritan, NJ to the late Phillip and Ina (Areanas) Cianciulli. She owned Mr. T\'s Delicatessen in New Jersey and Matty\'s in Pennsylvania. She enjoyed crocheting. A woman of deep faith, she loved her Lord. Left to cherish her memory are her children James, Phillip, John, Vincent, Andrew and Anthony Terraciano, Alicia Simon, Caroline Aboumosa, Annie Rehm, Ina Reese and foster son Phillip Gonsalves; her sisters Ina \"Lynn\" Schoonover and Jackie; 54 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Wilbert Cody, 42, Inverness, FL
Wilbert \"Will\" Cody, age 42, Inverness, died March 23, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Will was born on May 23, 1970 in Lexington, KY to the late Logan and Malinda (Teeter) Cody. He was employed as a mechanic at Top of the World in Ocala. Will was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed his work as an auto mechanic. Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 11 years, Sherri Cody; sons Adam Watson and Austin Watson, both of Tennessee, daughter Sarah Watson, Inverness and sisters Linda Farrell, TN and Tracey Canine, KY; two grandchildren Caleb and Daelin. Helen Cooper, 89, of Inverness, Florida passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Hospice of Citrus County, Inverness. She was born on October 7, 1923, in Wilkinson, West Virginia to the late Alexander and Anastasia (Sharampleo) Huchok. Helen was a secretary for Rockwell International, and arrived in this area in 1992, coming from Gahanna, Ohio. Helen very much enjoyed dancing and her animals. A devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother, she loved taking care of her family. She was Methodist by faith. She is survived one daughter, Marcia A. Carter of Worthington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Nicole (Kevin) Lykens and Shannon (Joel) Hall, and six great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Mackay, Luke, Eli, Rhett and Tyler. She was preceded in death by her husband Harding on 03/14/2005 and an infant son, John Daniel Cooper. Funeral services for Helen are scheduled for Monday, February 18, 2013 at 9:30 AM at Chas. E. CHANDA LEE COSTA, age 67, Crystal River, died March 18, 2013 at Life Care Center in Lecanto under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Chanda was born on October 15, 1945 in Lansing, MI to the late Robert J. and Mary Louise (Powis) Costa. She was employed as a Registered Nurse, working for many years at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. Chanda enjoyed sewing, painting and embroidery work. She was a lifelong "Parrotthead" and member of the Moose Lodge of Inverness. Left to cherish her memory are her children John C. Linda Marie DeBruyn, 64, Inverness, died at home on Jan 12, 2013 under the care of family and Hospice of Citrus County. She was born in New Brunswick, NJ on Dec 18, 1948 to the late Samuel and Gloria (Alessi) Gosack and moved to Inverness from Summerfield, FL following the death of her husband. Stephen Guy DeMeyer, age 61, Inverness, died March 13, 2013 at his residence. Steve was born on December 12, 1951 in Pontiac, MI to Guy DeMeyer, Jr. and Eloise (Mattoon) DeMeyer. He was employed as a small engine repair technician for over 30 years with Unicoa in Phoenix, AZ. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mary was born on September 21, 1954 in Cleveland, OH to the late Glenn and Josephine (Jaros) Myers. She was employed as a state tested nursing assistant in Ohio. Mary enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed traveling to many areas. Thomas C. Donahue, Jr., 82, Inverness, died Feb 23, 2013 in Munroe Regional Medical Center, Ocala. Mr Donahue was born in Boston, MA on Oct 22, 1930 to the late Thomas and Marion (Blake) Donahue, Sr and moved to this area in 1994 from Abington, MA. He was a 24 year veteran of the U.S.A.F., having served our country in WW II, Korea, and Vietnam as a weapons officer. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. Survivors include two sisters, Patricia Duggan of Wollaston, MA and Barbara Hart of Braintree, MA, his sister-in-law, Dianne Donahue of Salem, MA, 15 Nieces and nephews all of MA and 37 grandnieces and nephews. Bob was born on May 28, 1931 in East Palestine, OH to the late Joseph and Florence (Engle) Figley. Bob owned and operated an upholstery shop in Floral City for many years. With his wife, Tamiko, they opened their home into a bed and breakfast inn, "The Heritage House." He was a member of the Floral City Historical Society. A very sociable and outgoing person, Bob was known for his music- he enjoyed playing guitar, singing and entertaining everywhere he went. He also enjoyed the game of golf. He was a parishioner and usher at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 20 years, Tamiko Figley; sons Robert Figley, Jr. (Marilyn), Thomas Figley (Diane), Sam Figley and Robert Lewis; daughters Sue Mansfield (Mike) Peggy Clark (Grady) Patricia Pamas (Steve) and Nancy Hunter (Jeff); brother Francis Figley, and a sister Jean Hildenstien, 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, step-son Andre Ruffner and step-daughter Eva Masumoto. He arrived in this area in 1989, coming from Miami, and was a protestant. Edward enjoyed woodworking and spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nola Gravius. Donald E Harris, 93, Lecanto, FL
DONALD EMERSON HARRIS, age 93, died March 29, 2013 at the HPH Hospice House in Lecanto. Don was born on October 30, 1919 in Birmingham, MI to the late Thomas and Zella (Hillyer) Harris. He served our country in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII as a Captain and a fighter pilot, receiving meritorious achievement awards, successfully completing numerous long over-water missions involving flights of 1500 miles, in the face of enemy antiaircraft fire and air operations over the Japanese mainland. Following his Army discharge, Donald was employed as a line technician for Detroit-Edison, a position he held for over 50 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years, playing tennis, pitching horseshoes and using his CB radio. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret on May 24, 2000 and his only brother, Edward in 1972. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Daryl and his wife Pam Harris of Lehigh Acres, FL and Dennis and his wife Maureen "Mo" Harris, Gaston, S.C.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He came to his area in 1975 following his retirement from the U.S. Air Force where he served over 20 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant. Following his retirement, he worked as a Superintendent for several local golf courses including Inverness Golf and Country Club. Sid was very active in the V.F.W., having founded the Floral City Post 7122 where he served as Past Commander. He also was Past Commander of VFW Post 4337, Past District 7 Commander, District 7 Quartermaster, and State Inspector. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hatten, Floral City; 3 sons, Jay Hatten of South Carolina; Sidney Hatten Jr., Lutz, FL ; Adam McCann, Floral City; 2 daughters, Catherine Parker of Atlanta, GA; Valerie Fimple, Albuquerque, NM; 1 sister, Genice Spetz, Yorbalinda, CA ; 9 grandchlldren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mary Jane (Ash) Hildebrand, age 89, Inverness, passed away on a beautiful Spring day on March 13, 2013 surrounded by her family and the staff of Hospice of Citrus County at New Horizon's Senior Citizen Home. Mary Jane was born on June 7, 1923 in Phoenix, AZ to the late Gerald L. and Mercedes (Meux) Ash. She was a Miami pioneer, who saw the city in its infancy. She graduated from Ponce de Leon High School and enjoyed sailing on Biscayne Bay. She was employed as a teletypist at the historic Pan Am Sea Plane Base in Coconut Grove on Dinner Key. Mary Jane relocated to Inverness in 1987. She was a talented artist and member of the Citrus County Art League; where she taught others portrait painting and received many local art show awards for her work. She was Catholic by faith. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Mary Jane Brooks, Staten Island, NY, Delores "Lori" Weyrick and Cheryl Hildebrand, both of Miami, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles B. Hildebrand on January 31,2006; her brother and sister. TERA LEIGH McALLISTER, age 10, died surrounded by her family and under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus County on February 9, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tera was born on October 8, 2002 in West Palm Beach to Timothy Paul and Kelly Leigh (Howard) McAllister. She was a little, spunky red-headed fighter who loved Elmo and wearing her flashing shoes. She was a joy to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Bernard A. "Bernie" McShane, 78, of Inverness, Florida passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Hospice of Citrus County in Lecanto. He was born on March 7, 1935 in Wintrop, Massachusetts to the late Henry B. and Mary (McCauley) McShane. Bernie was an electrician and a member of Local Union #103, IBEW in Massachusetts, and retired from IBEW #77 in Seattle, with a total of fifty-seven years of membership. He arrived in this area in 2001, coming from Seattle, Washington. Bernie loved reading, taking walks with his dog Candy, traveling, riding rollercoasters, skydiving, and living a quite life. VERNON EARL METTS, SR. age 92, Inverness, died January 13, 2013 at Nature Coast Lodge. Vernon was born on May 12, 1920 in Lisbon, OH to the late Marion and Bertha (Parsons) Metts. He served our country in the United States Army during WWII in Okinawa and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Vernon was the owner/operator of Auto Truck Service, Inc. in Lake Milton, OH for many years. He was a member of Argus Masonic Lodge #545 of Canfield, OH and was a member of the Ohio Highway Patrol Auxillary, serving for over 19 years. Upon relocation to this area in 1981 from Canfield, he became a member of VFW #4337 of Inverness and was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Crystal River. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Vernon E. Metts, Jr. OH, Harold J. (Ruth) Metts, Hernando, Gary P. Metts, Ohio and his daughter Marie E. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, James Pearce; one son, James Lee Pearce; two brothers, Joe and John; and three sisters, Ruth, Mildred, and Betty. A man of incredible integrity and honesty, he proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Sergeant; was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with Combat V and two purple hearts. Frank was a loving family man. He was a member of the DAV and American Legion in Clearwater. Frank coached Little League baseball in Citrus County for over 15 years. Walter received his Masters Degree from Steven's University, and became Senior Engineer for Lockheed; designing electrical equipment for submarines and submersables. Walter and his loving wife of thirty years, Linda, arrived in this area ten years ago, with the guidance of the Lord, coming from Long Island, New York. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, and was an avid speed reader. "I have finished the race. I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7). Paul was born on May 25, 1944 in Detroit, MI to the late Clifford and Leona (Lafferty) Roman. He was the owner/operator of his own shops, Roman's Alternator and Starter in Boone, NC and Roman Electric in Sarasota. After retiring and relocating to this area in 2001, he worked as a security guard at Citrus Memorial Hospital for over five years. Paul truly enjoyed reading and working with his computer. He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed bird watching from his porch. He was Catholic by faith. JAMES J. RYAN, age 90, Inverness, died January 5, 2013 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Jim was born on December 6, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward and Catherine (Cartwright) Ryan. He served our country for three years in the United States Navy as a pharmacist\\\'s ship mate. Upon leaving the Navy, he opened a gas station in Port Washington, NY, which he owned for the next 36 years. As he could not stay retired, he went to bartender\\\'s school and worked for a fine restaurant in Jericho, NY. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years, Peg in 1984. He met his second wife, Eileen and they were married in 1988. Upon a trip to Citrus County to meet Eileen\\\'s family, Jim loved the area and they purchased a home here. Continuing to stay active, Jim joined the Citrus Co Sheriff\\\'s Highlands Crime Watch and Citrus Memorial Hospital Volunteers. He then applied for the job of bartender for the Inverness Golf and Country Club, a job he enjoyed for 13 years, before his Parkinson\\\'s disease forced his final retirement. He enjoyed golfing and the many friends he made there; he knew every member\\\'s number and what their drink of choice was! James was a member of the VFW #4337 of Inverness. He enjoyed his membership at Inverness Golf and Country Club. James was a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Thelma was a cafeteria employee with the Pinellas County School System for twenty years, and arrived in this area in 1985, coming from St. Petersburg, Florida. She was a Methodist, and enjoyed gardening and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Loren Shepherd; one daughter, Patricia Swendrowski; one brother, Robert Magray; and nine siblings. JOSEPH A. SILVESTRO, age 87, Inverness, died March 26, 2013 under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus County surrounded by his family. A native of Staten Island, he was born on May 16, 1925, the youngest of 8 children, to the late Charles and Carmella (Mastandrea) Silvestro and moved to Inverness in 1972. He operated Silvestro\'s Deli on Staten Island for many years in addition to being a professional drummer, having appeared on the Johnny Carson Show. He also served our country in the US Navy during WW II. After moving to Inverness, he opened the original Joe\'s Deli on Dampier Street. Following retirement, his son in law, Joe Fallon, took over the business and relocated it to the Inverness Shopping Plaza. Joe loved the game of baseball and was a renowned umpire in little league circles all over the country, having umpired the Little League World Series during his career. Always interested in our communities youth, he was one of the original organizers of the Inverness Little League program. For this commitment, he was honored by the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce, the Sertoma Club, and other service organizations over the years. Left to treasure his memory are two daughters, Barbara Fallon and her husband Joe, Inverness; Rosemary DeMott and her husband Jon, Clermont; 7 grandchildren: Amy, Amanda, Rebecca, Katie, Joseph, Jonathan, and Jason; 5 great-grandchildren: Fallon, Jacob, Landon, Dominic, and Haylee. John "Jack" Edwin Sinton, b. December 6th, 1931, passed away from natural causes on January 14th, 2013 at the age of 81. A native of Collingswood, NJ and graduated Collingswood High School, Class of 1950. Married to Doris Theresa Sommers in November 1952 and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Jack was drafted in the Army for the Korean War, and served with valor during the closing stages of the war with the 25th Infantry Division, 27th Regiment (the "Wolfhounds"), within sight of Panmunjom on the front lines. Returning to the US after the war, Jack worked as a color preparation technician in the printing industry in the Philadelphia, PA area. Jack joined the USIA in 1972, and was a Foreign Service Officer with the US State Department until his retirement and served in Mexico City, Mexico and Beirut, Lebanon, eventually serving as director of mission in Manila, Philippines. Jack retired first to Marlton, NJ in 1995 and arrived in the Inverness, FL area in 2005. He is survived by wife, Doris; son John Robert Sinton of Inverness; daughter Cathy Doris Phillips of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; grandson Joseph Pagano and granddaughter Natalie Pagano, both of Rosedale, NJ. Lawrence D Smith, 76, Inverness, FL
Lawrence D. Smith, of Inverness, Florida passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at HPH Hospice in Lecanto, Florida. He was born on June 3, 1936 in Fruithurst, Alabama to the late Marshall O. and Leila (Brown) Smith. Larry was a plate machine operator in the battery manufacturing industry, and arrived in this area in 2008, coming from Erin, Tennessee. He was a Baptist, and member of the National Rifle Association. Larry enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, and was an avid \"Poet of Women\". Survivors include three sons, Lawrence D. (Rhonda) Smith, Jr. of Inverness, Samuel M. (Carolyn) Smith of Seffner, Florida, and Marshall K. (Joyce) Smith of Inverness; one step-daughter, Tina (Steve) Barton of Zephyrhills, Florida; two sisters, Particia Nixon and Susane Moffit; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A graveside committal service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Hills of Rest Cemetery in Floral City. The family will receive friends in visitation at 2:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory until 2:45 when the procession will leave for the cemetery.


Leslie (Les) A Snapp, 61, Inverness, Fl
LESLIE A. "LES" SNAPP, age 61, died January 10, 2013 at the Hospice of Citrus County care unit at Citrus Memorial Hospital under the loving care of the hospice staff and his family. Les was born on June 10, 1951 in Lexington, KY to the late Henry Lee Snapp, Sr. and Irene (Purvis) Snapp. He served our country in the United States Marine Corp in the M.P. division. He later served as a police officer in the Dayton (OH) Police Department for over 12 years. Upon his relocation to Clearwater, Florida, he owned and operated the Savage Tan and Body Salon. He was known as a "jack of all trades." He will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends in Clearwater. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 34 years, Barbara Snapp and son Nathan Snapp, both of Inverness; his sisters Sue (Fred) Morhman, Carrollton, VA and Jerrie Murphy, Clearwater, FL and sister-in-law Dorcas Snapp, Inverness. Born in Jamaica, Queens, NY on Feb 28, 1919, one of seven children, to the late Angelo and Angelena Cresci, she came to Florida in 1999 from West Edmeston, NY following her retirement from hospital food service. Survivors include her son, Joseph, Jr and wife Martha of Inverness; two sisters, Josephine Bottoni and Annie Sostak; 4 grand and 9 great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews. Cicero Sowards, 71, Beverly Hills, FL
CICERO SOWARDS, age 71, Beverly Hills, died January 23, 2013 under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. Cicero was born on June 6, 1941 in Myra, KY to the late Evertt and Malcomgersie Sowards. He served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Cicero was employed as a welder, working for many companies, finishing his working career at Ford Motor Company with over 10 years of service. He enjoyed sports; was a NASCAR fan, loved Kentucky basketball and Alabama football and was an excellent pool player. He liked listening to blue grass music. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years Melba "Sue" Sowards, Beverly Hills, brother Tommy (Barbara) Sowards, Las Cruces, NM and sisters Mary Lou (Tom) Clinton, Melvindale, MI and Jerry K. Helene Anna Stevens, 95, Inverness, died Mar 26, 2013 in Cypress Cove Care Center of Crystal River. Mrs Stevens was born in Baltimore, MD on Apr 16, 1917 to the late Waldemar and Helene (Gessing) Hoheisel and came to this area in 1999. She was of the Morman faith and was an accomplished oil painter, having won several awards. Surviving are 2 sons, Warren Hayes Stevens, Jr and wife Pauline of Houston, TX; Waldemar Stevens of Houston, TX; 3 daughters, Marlene Edelblute of Clinton, MD; Helene Lehmann and husband Arthur of Baltimore, MD; Bonnie Wise and husband Ronald of Inverness; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Warren in 1969, 2 children, Glenn Stevens and Linda Engstrand, her brother, Walter Hoheisel, and 1 grandchild. He was employed at the Lafarge Three Rivers Quarry in Paducah as an assistant manager. Todd was a loving family man and an active outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Margaret C. "Peggy" Waller, 53, of Floral City, Florida passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at HPH Hospice in Lecanto. She was born on March 11, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Richard and Patricia (Richards) Giannico. Peggy arrived in this area in 1990, coming from St. Petersburg, Florida and was a Licensed Practical Nurse at Arbor Trail Rehab & Nursing; where she enjoyed working and loved the people there. She loved her animals, especially her cat, her horse Rowdy, and her pig Fancy. Peggy enjoyed boat rides on the river, and quite times on her farm. She is survived by her loving husband thirteen years, Milton "Boogie" Waller. Other survivors include one daughter, Dashell Tucker of St. Petersburg; two brothers, Ricky and Bill Giannico; two sisters, Tina Bailey and Patty Wright; and four grandchildren. Myron \\\"Wayne\\\" Watts, 47, Inverness, FL
Myron Wayne Watts, age 47, Inverness, died March 19, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. A native Floridian, Wayne was born on December 30, 1965 in Tampa to Myron William Watts and Nellie Mae (Gay) Watts. He was employed as a cook at The Cove for many years and also worked as a pest control technician for Stypes Pest Control. Wayne enjoyed listening to music, having a CD collection of over 1000. He also loved riding his motorcycle and cooking for his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 19 yers, Dawn Marie Watts; his son DeWayne Kyle Watts and his companion Nicole Sterling and their son, Devon Watts; daughter Summer Mae Watts; his mother Nellie and husband Marvin Compton, all of Inverness and his sister Priscilla Ann and husband Andy Christopher, Waycross, GA.
