Beverly J Alden, 89, Inverness, FL
Beverly J. Alden, 89, Inverness, died June 26, 2013 at her residence under the care of her family and Hospice of Citrus county. Mrs Alden was born in Binghamton, NY on Feb 24, 1924 to the late Allen and Lillian (Hall) Swan and moved here from Tampa in 1988. She was employed as a electrical inspector for Link Aviation before retiring. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Inverness and OES Chapter 14-Johnson City, NY. Survivors include two children, Michael C. Alden of Port St. Lucie and Cherie Elaine Alden, Inverness; grandchildren, Jean Marie, Debera Lynn, Ashley Elizabeth, Danielle Manon, Summer Dawn, and Jessica Lynn; 2 great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Kayana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Alden; 5 brothers, Allen, Donald, Robert, Richard, and Ivan Swan, and 3 sisters, Helen, Daisy, and Jessie. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, June 30th at 3:00 PM at Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Denise Lay of The First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment at a later date in Florida National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 PM until the hour of service. Ellen J Aswegan, 82, Arbor Lakes, FL
ELLEN JOAN ASWEGAN, age 82, Arbor Lakes, FL died May 6, 2013 under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus County and dear friends. Ellen was born on January 8, 1931 in New Sharon, IA to the late Josiah Earl and Lillian (Mulford) Scott. She was employed by Crosley Farm Store in Eldora, Iowa for many years. She was a homemaker who was also an excellent fisherwoman, catching many different species of fish throughout the country. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 63 years, Leroy Aswegan, Nephew Charles (Phyllis) Frazer, nieces Sherrill Snider and Sandy (Phil) Duncan, all of TX as well as many other nieces and nephews; Brother-in-Law Floyd Aswegan, Grandview Home, Marshalltown, IA; special friends Joe and Ronnie Wilhelmy, Beverly Hills, FL and their children Tim (Kendra) Wilhelmy, FL and Ann (Roger) Stawski, MN. She was a special grandmother to their grandchildren, Jack, Taylor and Matthew. She was preceded in death by her sister Mildred (Harold) Frazer, brother Leonard "Bud" (Glee) Scott. A Memorial Service will be held at First Congregational Church in Eldora, Iowa with Rev. Cory Larson officiating, on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 1:30 PM. A light lunch will be served following the service in the fellowship hall. LeRoy E Aswegan, 86, Hernando, FL
LEROY E. ASWEGAN, age 86, Arbor Lakes, died May 27, 2013 under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. LeRoy was born on March 7, 1927 in Fern, Iowa to the late Louis Aswegan and Olga (Piper) Aswegan. He owned his own farm, retiring in 1989. LeRoy, along with his late wife Joan loved to fish and caught many species throughout their travels. Left to cherish his memory is his brother Floyd Aswegan, Marshalltown, IA; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Joe and Ronnie Wilhelmy of Beverly Hills; their children, Ann (Roger) Stawski, MN and Tim (Kendra) Wilhelmy, FL; special grandchildren Jack, Taylor and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ellen Joan Aswegan on May 6, 2013, brothers Albert (Pearl) and Glen (Neta) and sister-in-law Hilda. A joint Celebration of Life Memorial Service with his late wife Ellen Joan Aswegan will be held at First Congregational Church in Eldora, IA with Rev. Barbara A Barger, 63, Hernando, Fl
Barbara A. Barger, 63, of Hernando, Florida passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, under the care of Hospice of Citrus County, Inverness. She was born on December 4, 1949 in Holyoke, Massachusetts to the late Washington I. and Kathleen M. (Goshea) Whitley. Barbara was a cook in the food services industry, and arrived in this area in 1995, coming from Holyoke. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Lecanto, Florida, and enjoyed cooking, housekeeping, sewing, swimming, shopping at thrift stores, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Gary Barger. Other survivors include two sons, Andrew J. Moynihan of Holder, Florida, and Thomas E. Moynihan, and his wife Tina, of Hernando; and one brother, William I. Whitley of Elizabethton, Tennessee. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Florida.


Daniel W Barnard, 92, Lecanto, FL
DANIEL W. BARNARD, age 92, Lecanto, died June 16, 2013 under Hospice of Citrus County care. Daniel was born on July 7, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Luther and LaVern (Orr) Barnard. He served our country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed as a quality control inspector for Rockwell International for 30 years. Daniel was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include his son, Terry Lee Barnard, AZ; daughters Vickie Lynn (Leonard) Porter, Waterloo, SC and Cora Mae Kelley, Crystal River, FL, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Willie on 02/09/2006, daughter-in-law Janice Porter and a grandson Casey. Chas. E. Judith M Bean, 93, Inverness, FL
JUDITH "BUG" WARNOCK GAMMELL BEAN, age 93, Inverness, died May 5, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Judith was born on October 11, 1919 to the late Elby and Laura Warnock. She worked as a supervisor for Adams County, Ohio Welfare Department for over 21 years. She was a member of the Sycamore Chapter of DAR in Adams County, OH. Judith attended the First Assembly of God Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank Gammell in 1988; six brothers and a sister. She leaves her second husband of 21 years, Gordon Bean, Inverness; her son James and his wife Connie Gammell, Reynoldsburg, OH and daughter Charlene Gammell, Columbus, OH. She will be remembered as "Aunt Bug" by her many nieces and nephews. Her final message to all she leaves behind is "Live a good life, be proud of your heritage, keep in touch with Jesus and I will be waiting for you." The family will receive friends in visitation on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. Roger W Bellah, Sr., 76, Homosassa, Fl
Roger W. Bellah, Sr., 76, of Homosassa, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at his residence in Homosassa, under the care of Hospice of Citrus County, and surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina on April 5, 1937 to the late William and Connie Bellah. Roger was a heavy equipment inspector for the civil service, and a US Navy veteran. He arrived in this area in 1994, coming from St. Marys, Georgia. Roger enjoyed wood working, pine needle basket weaving, and spending time with family. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 1/2 years, Irene Bellah. Other survivors include two sons, Michael and Howard Bellah, of Greenville, North Carolina; two daughters, Sheila (Jerry) Jackson of Greenville, North Carolina and Monica Elaine Loeb of Orange Park, Florida; one brother, Robert Bellah of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Constance Varner and Jean Burns, of Charleston; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Monday, July 1, 2013, 11:00 A.M. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida. Edna E Beltz, 93, Floral City, FL
Edna Elbon Beltz, 93, Floral City, died May 31, 2013 in Gainesville at Haven Hospice. Mrs Beltz was born in Marianna, FL on Sep 15, 1919, the oldest of 10 children, to the late Jesse and Bonnie (Hobby) Pittman and came to his area in 1972 from St Petersburg. She was a member of the Floral City United Methodist Church and Chapter No.65, Order of The Eastern Star. Left to mourn her loss are her four daughters, Marie Addison of Gainesville, FL; Patricia Bouquet of DeRitter, LA; Barbara Elbon of Floral City; Carol Elbon of Gainesville, FL; her brother and sister, Eugene Pittman and Christine Neal of Inverness; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 husbands,William Elbon in 1976 and Spencer Beltz in 1998. Edna's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 4th at 10:00 AM at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Kelley and O.E.S. Eastern Star Chapter No.65 officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in St Petersburg. Dr. Robert F Blackburn, 72, Inverness, FL
Dr. Robert F. "Dr. Bob" Blackburn, 72, of Inverness, Florida died on Friday, May 3, 2013 under hospice care in Inverness, Florida. Dr. Bob was born and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia and graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1958. He was inspired to develop his natural talent in music by the positive upbringing and teaching of his father, The Rev. Dr. Harry William Blackburn, his mother, Eva Mae Garrison Blackburn and older sister Janie McFarland. During his high school years, his high profile leadership in Mrs. Esther Cunningham's A Cappella Choir and his first chair trombone position earned in Mr. Frank Schroeder's Big Red Band attest to his innate musical abilities. He also attended summer camps at the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey where he discovered his stentorian tenor voice and pursued serious vocal training. Dr. Blackburn graduated from Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky and fulfilled his call to the ministry by graduating from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Shortly thereafter, he received his first pastoral appointment at Central Avenue United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. Following that ministry he was transferred to the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church where he pastored in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Miami, Jacksonville and finally in Inverness, where he oversaw the construction of the First United Methodist Church campus. During his appointment in Jacksonville, the Honorary Doctorate of Divinity was conferred by Joe Andrews and the Southeastern Evangelistic Groups. After retiring from the pulpit, Dr. Bob pursued his second passion, ministry of music on a full time basis. He ministered domestically and internationally, including a ten day tour in England. He has several published musical works and is well remembered for his large scale theatrical and well choreographed productions. Dr. Blackburn was preceded in death by his parents and his older brothers, Dr. Howard R. Blackburn and Dr. David Stuart Blackburn. His surviving family include: former wife, Ann Nuckolls Blackburn of Dayton, TN; their children, Ken Blackburn of Nashville, TN; Kam Reagan of Inverness, FL; Robin Williams of Cleveland, TN and Bobbi Bogle of Nashville, TN. Close surviving family relatives are sister Janie McFarland of Waco, TX; sister-in-law, Ruth Ann Blackburn of Indianapolis, IN; nephew/brother, Roger D. Blackburn of St. Peters, MO; nephew Robert McFarland of Sicklerville, NJ; niece, Beth Blackburn Boles of Zionsville, IN; nephew John Blackburn of Noblesville, IN; nephew David Allen of Roswell, GA; nephew Britten Stone Blackburn of Hoover, AL and nephew Phillip Blackburn of Tokyo, Japan. His grandchildren are Christopher Todd Bender of Inverness, FL, Jeffrey Wayne Bender of Orlando, FL and Nathaniel Lane Williams of Cleveland, TN. DOROTHY JANE BLAND, age 90, Homosassa, died June 12, 2013 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Dorothy was born in Toledo, OH on December 2, 1922 to the late George and Edith (Greiner) Kleeberger. She was employed as a mail clerk for a products testing and survey company. Dorothy was a very social, outgoing, active and energetic person who enjoyed her volunteer work at the Hospice of Citrus County thrift shop in Homosassa. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Nancy Fecso and companion Pete Vitulli, Homosassa, grandchildren Michael and Daniel Fecso and great-grandchildren Stephanie, Danielle and Brandi. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, George Bland, a brother Wendell Kleeberger and sister Donna. Chas. E. Florian R Bovone, 84, Floral City, FL
FLORIAN RICHARD BOVONE, age 84, Floral City, died June 15, 2013 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Florian was born in New York City on September 11, 1928 to the late Alexander and Josephine (DiFlorian) Bovone. He served our country in the United States Army. Florian was a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of New York City. He enjoyed playing tennis and biking, playing the piano and dancing the waltz and polka. He loved to work in his garden. Left to treasure his memory is his wife of 61 years, Louise Bovone; sons Richard (Katrina) Bovone, Spotsylvania, VA and David (Angi) Bovone, Wesley Chapel, FL; grandsons John and Gabriel. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles. A tribute celebration to Florian's life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory followed by Masonic Rites conducted by Memorial Lodge No. 119. LAWRENCE ROBERT BROWN, age 82, Floral City, died May 15, 2013 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Lawrence was born on June 16, 1930 in Tonncanic, PA to the late Leland and Elizabeth Brown. He was the owner/operator of his own painting business. Lawrence was the creator of C-4, the Citrus County Christian Coalition and an active evangelist. He was a member of Calvary Church. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Doris Brown, Son Kenneth (Andrea) Brown, Point Pleasant, NJ, daughters Barbara Ann (James) Dunigan, Floral City and Nancy (Michael) Anderson, Homosassa, seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, brothers Leland and Johnny Brown, both of NJ. Reita May Carpenter, 106, passed away on May 7, 2013 at the New Horizon Assisted Living Home in Inverness, Florida. She was born May 10, 1906 in Ballston Spa, NY, the daughter of Leonard and Mabel Davey. She was predeceased by her husband Harold L. Carpenter, her daughter Janet Paquin, 3 sisters, her grandson and a great grandson. Survivors are her daughters Mabel Siler, Glenville, NY and Audrey Wagner of Beverly Hills, FL and her son Neil R. Carpenter of Ocala, FL; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and four great-great-great grandchildren, her niece and nephew. A Requiem Eucharist Mass will be offered on Friday, May 10th at 9:00 AM at St Margaret's Episcopal Church with Fr. Eugene Reuman, celebrant. Friends may call at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home Thursday evening from 5-7 PM. Burial will follow at the Ballston Spa Cemetery this summer at a date to be announced later. Mary S Carter, 94, Inverness, FL
MARY SELINA CARTER, age 94, Inverness, departed this life on June 10, 2013 at Diamond Ridge Health and Rehab Center, under the loving care of her granddaughter Jennifer, her husband James Gregory, their children and Hospice of Citrus County. Mary was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 18, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles W. Carter. She attended Emmanuel Baptist Church while living in St. Petersburg where she was church organist, secretary and Bible teacher and was a VBS principal for 35 years. In the Pinellas Baptist Association she was the Associational Director for GA's and Acteens. After moving to Hernando many years ago, she was active in many church activities as organist, choir member and Bible school worker in the Hernando Baptist Church. She was a "Honey Bee" in the Island X 18 SeaBees. She did free lance writing of children's stories and was a poetress and a distinguished member of the International Poet's Society. Her poetry has appeared in an edition of "Seasons of Life", the International Library of Poetry. She was a secretary and pianist for TOPS FL 550 of Inverness, where she was a charter member and a graduate KOPS for over 20 years. She was a volunteer at the Senior Activities Center in Lecanto. She is survived by two daughters, Mary Sallie Taylor, St. Petersburg and Vella Faye McDannell, Floral City, six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchldren. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. The family will receive friends in visitation from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. Inurnment will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery.

IDA "MARGARET" CHAPMAN, age 98, died June 1, 2013 at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. Margaret was born on October 13, 1914 in Buckeye Furnace, OH to the late John and Susie (Kisor) Copas. She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith. Survivors include her son, Ronald Peart, granddaughters Rhonda and Karen and four great-grandchildren. Duilio Chiarizio, 72, Hernando, FL
DUILIO CHIARIZIO, age 72, "Uncle D" died June 2, 2013 under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Duilio was born on January 29, 1941 in Hartford, CT to the late Anthony and Doris (Lavallee) Chiarizio. He was a carpenter by trade. He was an "old biker dude" who loved his family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his nephew Michael and wife Donna Chiarizio, Dunnellon; nieces Denise and husband Brian Eucine and Barbara Crane, all of St. Petersburg; their children and grandchildren as well as other extended family members. NOAH BRADLEY CLEAVELAND, infant baby of two months died May 11, 2013 at his residence. Noah was born on March 1, 2013 to Alex Henry Cleaveland and Tiffany Lynne Ellison at Citrus Memorial Hospital. In addition to his parents, he is survived by siblings Alex H. Cleaveland, Jr. and Kaylynne Cleaveland, paternal grandparents Bradley and Pansey Cleaveland, all of Floral City and maternal grandparents Debbie Hatley, Leesburg and other extended family members. Herbert R Cochrane, 79, Hernando, FL
Herbert R. Cochrane, 79 years of Arbor Lakes, Hernando, FL, died Thursday June 6, 2013 under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born January 27, 1934 in Akron, OH, Herb served in the US Marine Corp from April 1954-April 1957, during the Korean War. Upon return from Korea, Herb was in the MP\'s. After his Honorable Discharge from the Marines, Herb served four years as an apprentice plasterer and was a journeyman plasterer until retirement in 1996. One of eleven siblings, Herb was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Edith Cochrane; brothers, Warren Earl, Charles Raymond and James William; sisters, Dorothy Morris, Mary Mullet and Pauline Ventimiglia. He is survived by his loving wife, Gerrie of 59 years; sons: Randall (Kelly) of Jacksonville, FL and James (Denise) of Loxahatchee, FL. Herb had an all encompassing love for his four grandsons: Austin & Brandon Cochrane of Jacksonville and Thomas and Ryan Cochrane of Loxahatchee. Each was \"his buddy\". He is survived by brothers, Eugene (Nanci), David, Gordon (June) and Daniel all of Akron, Ohio area and many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States. Herb and family resided in Boca/Delray from 1973 to 2000. They have resided in Hernando since 2000. Herb loved to travel and bowled the amature ABC national bowling tournaments held throughout the United States. Herb had many ABC awards for games of 299, 300 and series over 700. While living in the Boca Raton area, he competed in local tournaments and won a car. Herb also enjoyed the golf outings with the Arbor Lakes Men\'s Golf Group. Herb had been ill the last 2 to 3 years and was no longer able to participate in the sports he loved. However, he loved to travel and spend time with his brothers and their families in Ohio. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Herb will be conducted on Wednesday, June 12th at 1:00 PM from the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory of Inverness, with Rev. Randy Hodges, officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service. Inurnment will follow at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, with Military Honors provided by Marine Corps League. LARRY R. COMBS, age 73, Inverness, died April 3, 2013. Larry was born on March 11, 1940 in Akron, OH to the late Avie Charles Combs and Ruth (Bolton) Combs. He served our country in the United States Navy, retiring with the rank of Chief. Larry was a member of the VFW #4337 of Inverness, American Legion #129 and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3992. He enjoyed playing cards and socializing with his many friends. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Debra Combs Barr, Jacksonville Beach, FL; his brother, Donald (Loa-Ann) Combs, Akron, OH, sister Shirley (Michael) Engel, Floral City; two grandsons Tyler Barr and Evan Richardson and his loving companion, Wilma Anderson. He was born on February 12, 1946 in Eldersburgh, Maryland to the late Douglas F. and Francis (Hungerford) Cutsail. He was a Jehovah's Witness, and loved sharing his faith through preaching and congregational fellowship. Doug enjoyed fishing, spending time outdoors, airboating, and drag racing. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Cutsail. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Mary Cutsail. Other survivors include three sons, Douglas F. He was a tool and die maker for Wheaton Industries, a company that produced many types of containers. Fred served our country in the United States Army. He owned, trained, bred and raced harness horses. He also trained chimpanzees for television, with his wife. Fred enjoyed building boats and driving stock cars. He was an avid reader, golfer and fisherman. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Crystal River. Lawrence was a Construction Electrician with Local 697 IBEW, in Hammond, Indiana, and arrived in this area over twenty-seven years ago, coming from Hammond. He was a Captain in the U.S. Army, WWII, and loved to dine out. He was a gentleman farmer, and enjoyed dabbling in investments. She was Episcopalian by faith, and loved cooking, deep sea fishing, crochet, home remodeling, trips in fast cars, and traveling. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Frederick Fluchel; one daughter, Carolyn Fluchel, and four siblings. Survivors include one son, Frederick G. He was a retired mill operator for Kaiser Aluminum Company in Ravenswood, WV with 26 years of service, served our country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, and was a member of the Hernando Church of The Nazarene. He was a former member of the Bellmead United Methodist Church for over 20 years and the Civil Air Patrol in West Virginia; additionally, he earned his private pilot's license. Hubert also enjoyed building houses and model airplanes. Hubert and Mary loved to travel and visited all 50 states and Canada during their retirement. He served our country in the United States Air Force. Doug was employed by City Finance Company as a consumer finance executive for over 28 years. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading. CHARLES WILLIAM HARRIS, II, died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. He was 52 years old. He leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Kerri Harris, his son Dakota Harris and daughter, Kelly Harris of Hernando, FL; sons Charles Elliott, his wife and two grandchildren and Jeffrey Elliott and two grandchildren, all of Grand Rapids, MI. Chuck was a hard worker, having worked 14 years at Van's Trucking in Michigan as a driver. He and the family moved to Florida in 2003. From 2003 until 2010 Chuck worked maintenance at Black Diamond Golf Course. He made many new friends in Florida. Some of Chuck's favorite things to do were golfing, camping at Petoskey State Park in Michigan and hunting. Chuck enjoyed sitting outside in his yard talking to Kerri and watching wildlife. Mary Elizabeth Hoffman, 91, Hernando, died June 25, 2013 in Woodland Terrace of Citrus County. Miss Hoffman was born in Quakertown, PA on May 12, 1922 to the late Romanus and Mabel (Angney) Hoffman. She spent over 20 years serving our country in the US Navy (WW II and Korean War), retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Mary was a member of Hernando United Methodist Church, Fleet Reserve Association, Life Member of N.C.O.R., and Chapter 319, Order of Eastern Star. Survivors include her nephew, Richard W. Turner and his wife Nancy, Tallahassee, FL; 2 great nephews, Brian W. Turner, Dunnellon, FL and Scott K. Turner, Tallahassee, FL. She was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Martine Turner. James (Jim) Alonzo Holland age 91 of Hernando, Florida, born in Bee Ridge, Florida, on September 17, 1921, to the late Lloyd Paul Holland and Alice Mae (Cothron) Holland, changed addresses from his home in Hernando, Florida, to his heavenly home on Sunday, May 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd Larson Holland and Harvey Curtis Holland. Mr. Holland served his country in the United States Navy, having worked the dry docks in California until shortly after Pearl Harbor was attacked. He went on to be a special delivery letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. In his latter years, he enjoyed serving his Lord as an active member of the Inverness Church of God. Jim is survived by the love of his life, Phyllis M. (Roberts) Holland, who he was married to for 70 years. Jim and Phyllis had four children: Terri (Sonny) Thompson of Brunswick, GA; M’Liss (Allen) Grissom, Brooksville, FL; Paul (Sherrie) Holland, Hernando, FL; and Kevin (Lisa) Holland, Largo, FL. There are eight grandchildren: Renée Helms, Brunswick; Randy Helms, Stanford, CT; Tiffany Holland, Largo, FL; Shelley Brooks, Circle Pines, MN; Jody Grissom, Spring Hill; Cody Holland of Chattanooga, TN; and Peyton and Natalee Holland, Largo. Jim is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Lucien J Houle, 81, Inverness, FL
LUCIEN J. HOULE, age 81, Barre, VT and Inverness, FL died April 2, 2013 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Barre, VT, he was born on February 2, 1932 to the late Rene and Lucy Cosgrand Houle. On January 15, 1955, he married Eunice Emond Houle in St. Monica Church in Barre. He owned and operated Houle Service Station in Barre until 1959. He then started a used auto business and moved his business to Main Street where it was the Datsun (later changed to Nissan) dealership; also Volvo and Jeep dealerships for the Barre area. In 1987, he sold the auto business and he and his wife relocated to Inverness, FL where they spent the winters. He then went into the used airplane business and bought and sold several hundred small single and twin engine planes; he enjoyed both of these businesses immensely. He had a love of motorcycles and later trikes. Survivors include his wife Eunice Emond Houle and their four children, Nancy Pierce and husband Jim, Huntsville, AL; Craig and wife Lori Booth-Houle, Phoenix, AZ, Dorinda Olson and husband Jeff, Owens Cross Roads, AL, Judy Houle from Clermont, FL; two grandchildren, Courtney Pierce Mays and Shelley Pierce Jackson and husband Lamar; one great-granddaughter, Lilly Mays; sister Germain Ferry and many nieces and nephews who loved him very much. ESTHER K. HUGHART, age 94, Inverness, died May 5, 2013 at Arbor Trail Rehab and Nursing Center. Esther was born on April 20, 1919, in Jefferson County, KY to the late John and Mary Krages. Growing up in Louisville, she was active in the local 4-H Club where she learned to quilt and crochet, earning many award ribbons. While living in Maryland, she worked for the University of Maryland and the telephone company. She was a life member of American Legion Post 217 in College Park. After retirement she moved to Inverness, FL and became an active member of the local Civilian Conservation Corps chapter, serving as secretary and president. Later, she became active in Hospice. Esther made many beautiful crochet pieces and taught crochet classes for over 30 years. She attended First Presbyterian Church of Inverness. Left to cherish her memory is her son Russell Walker and wife Darlene, New Smyrna Beach, FL and daughters Mary Annis Witt and husband Marvin, Jacksonville, TX and Wanda Calderwood and husband Tim, Crofton, MD; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Glenn Arthur Kilgus, 81, of Inverness, went to be with his Savior on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Hospice of Citrus County in Inverness. Glenn was born on October 12, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois. He retired to Florida in 1994. He was a graduate of Jahn Elementary, Lane Tech and North Park College. Glenn was employed by Cotter & Company (True Value National Corporate Headquarters) for 30 years, holding the position of Maintenance Supervisor. He has served as a Board Member for the Friends of the Senior Center, the American Heart Association and the Citrus Memorial Annual Fundraising Ball Committee, for which he was an Annual Patron Donor. He was a Charter Member of the Mopar Car Club, Citrus American and Italian Club and the Highland Civic Association. For many years, Glenn delivered meals on wheels for Citrus County. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and a member of TOPS, achieving the status of Chapter King in 2008. He enjoyed bowling in leagues at Sportsman Bowl. Glenn was Christian by faith and attended Our Lady of Fatima Parish. His life long hobby of making clocks was a much enjoyed pastime. If you were a good friend of his, chances are you are the owner of one of his clocks. His clocks always came with a lifetime guarantee of repairs. Glenn donated many clocks for fundraisers, he sold none of them, he just enjoyed making them. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Kilgus and Helen (Flint) Kilgus and his brother, Alfred Kilgus. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Rose, and her children: Anita Rose Beinor of Inverness, David Walter Greenwell of Bristol, WI and Donald Greenwell of Chicago, IL. He served our country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Carl worked in the maintenance department at Kent State University for 30 years. He was an avid Buckeye and Brown's fan. He was born in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on February 26, 1918 to the late Charles and Grace (Kline) Krum. Lester was a Service Representative for Chrysler Corporation, and arrived in this area in 2005, coming from North Port, Florida. Henry N Langley, 92, Inverness, Fl
Henry N. Langley, 92, of Inverness, FL passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 in the care of HPH Hospice in Lecanto after a period of failing health. Mr. Langley was born in Metuchen, NJ and early in his life moved to Gilmanton, NH. A 1939 graduate of Laconia High School in NH, he continued his education at the University of New Hampshire graduating in 1943 with a degree in electrical engineering. After a short work period with RCA in Camden, NJ, he enlisted in the Navy serving until the end of WWII. After the war he moved with his family to Marlborough, NH where he spent his life until his retirement. Mr. Langley retired after a 35 year career at the former Kingsbury Corporation of Keene, NH ending his working life as Vice President of Engineering. He was a long time member of Keene Country Club and after moving to Inverness has been a member of Inverness Golf and Country Club since 1984. He enjoyed his golfing retirement for the past 29 plus years, particularly his long time association with the group called "The Nooners". Mr. Langley is survived by four sons, Gary and his wife Judith of Winchester, NH; Gerald and his wife Kathy of Green, NY; Roger and his wife Deanna of Inverness, FL; and Bruce and his wife Patsy of Concord, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren Amy Westerman, Karen Langley, Katelin Langley, Christopher Langley and Michael Langley along with seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Donald of Laconia and Inverness and a myriad of nieces and nephews; as well as his long time family friend, God Daughter and care-giver Barbara Hildreth Brown of Inverness. He was pre-deceased by a son, Peter, his brother Bernard, his wife Grace and his long time companion Alice Hildreth. JANIS D. LEHOWICZ, age 88, of Utica, New York and Lecanto, died April 4, 2013 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Janis was born on February 13, 1925 in Turin, NY to the late Simon and Anna (Kiska) Lehowicz. She retired as the office manager for the Utica, NY Metropolitan Insurance Company after 43 years of service. Following her retirement, she wintered with her two sisters in Floral City, Florida, enjoying many friends and activities. She was a member of the New York State Club, Floral City Garden Club, Floral City Historical Club, Order of the Eastern Star, Utica, Herkimer Co. AARP Chapter. She was active as a volunteer for the Rescue Mission, Utica. She attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Utica and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, reading books and traveling. Left to cherish her memory are five nieces, Sylvia Bulson (Robert), Beatrice Raux, (Ron), Mary Ann Lechowicz, Dorothy Baxter (Robert) and Patty Seymour; three nephews, Larry G., Bruce D. Lehowicz and James Lechowicz (Toni). She also leaves grand nieces and nephews. DONALD JAMES MARKEY, age 92, Inverness, died June 10, 2013 under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Donald was born on July 19, 1920 in Lowell, MA to the late James and Lillian (Iredale) Markey. He served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII, retiring out of the Air Force Reserve as a Lt. Col. He was a supervisor for the United States Postal Service. He loved sports, especially the Buccaneers, Gators and Rays. He enjoyed researching geneaology and war history. Donald was married to his wife, Virginia Clyde (McBrien) for almost 70 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Beverly (Terry) Gentry, Inverness, Karen (Mike) Janczy, Waldorf, MD and Kathy (Billy) Daugherty, Seminole, FL; his brother William (JoAnne) Markey, Clearwater, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald James Markey, Jr., and a brother, Gene. Pat was born on December 25, 1925 in New York City, NY to the late Frank J. and Clelia (Cimino) Martines. He was the owner/operator of his own communications business and also worked as service manager for a Lincoln Mercury dealership. Pat served our country in the United States Air Force during WWII, flying B-29 airplanes during bombing raids over Japan. Irene Theresa Martino, 98, Las Vegas, NV., former Inverness, FL resident died June 1, 2013 in Las Vegas. Irene was born on May 10, 1915 to the late James and Irene (Jones) Gallagher and moved to Inverness in 1976 from Long Island, NY. She retired from Sperry Rand Corp as a quality control technician after 28 years of service and formerly was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church of Inverness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Martino Dec. 9, 1996. She is survived by step children, nieces and nephews including Arlene Gibson with whom she made her home in Las Vegas. Private prayer services were conducted at the Chas E Davis Funeral Home of Inverness on June 24, 2012 with Fr. Erwin Belgica of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

He was born on September 8, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ray and Mary A. (Toland) Mathis. Rodney arrived in this area twenty years ago, coming from Darlington, Pennsylvania, and was a ten year employee for Dyna-Body gymnasium in Inverness. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, boating and hunting and found peace and tranquility in nature and being on the water. He was Catholic by faith. Charles F. Merchant, 90 of Floral City passed away May 17, 2013 in the Citrus Co. Hospice Unit in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Mr. Merchant was born on May 22, 1922 in Winthrop, MA to the late John and Gladys (Doane) Merchant and moved to this area 35 years ago from Miami. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Master Sergeant with 22 years of service. Bonnie enjoyed her church fellowship at First United Methodist Church of Inverness, singing soprano in the choir, as a bell ringer and was active in Bible studies. She was an excellent seamstress and gifted many beautiful quilts to friends and family members. He served as a Rifleman for VFW Post #7122 Honor Guard, and was one of it's original members. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #225, Floral City. Survivors include his loving wife of twenty-two years, Peggy F. Peardon. Other survivors include two sons, Randy Peardon and his companion Kathy Pitts, of Floral City, Danny Peardon of Goldsboro, North Carolina; daughter Diane Kennedy of Goldsboro, North Carolina; step-daughter Jennifer Atwell of Silverhill, Alabama; brother Robert K. James Douglas Phillips, M.D., “Doug,” 79, of Inverness, FL. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 7, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends, under the loving care of Hospice of Citrus County of the Nature Coast. He was born in Standing Rock, AL. on February 3, 1934. He attended Pre-Med at Memphis State, Memphis, TN. 1952-1955 and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha. He continued at the University of Tennessee, Memphis,TN., was President of his senior class and graduated with an M.D. degree in 1958. He did his residency in General Surgery at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN. He completed his residency in Urology and Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis, TN. He served as Staff Pathologist at the Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN. 1965-1966. From 1966-1971 he served as Associate Director of Resident Training at Methodist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, TN. In 1971 he moved to St. Petersburg, Fl. where he served as Associate Director of the Laboratory and taught Medical Technology at Bayfront Medical Center, St. Petersburg, FL. During this time he also served as Associate Clinical Laboratory Professor at the University of South Florida Medical School in Tampa, Fl. From 1982 until his retirement in 1996, he was Director of the Laboratory at E.H. White Memorial Hospital, St. Petersburg, FL. He was a Diplomate of the American Board Of Clinical Pathologists, Ameritus Fellow of The College of American Pathologists and Ameritus Fellow of the College of Clinical Pathologists. He was a member of the Pacific Rim Maltese Club and Co-Founder of “Families For Truth About Gander.” He was preceded in death by his only son, Sgt. James D. Phillips, Jr. and his grandson, Nicholas Scott Carter. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Zona Lee, daughter, Samantha Phillips, Atlanta, GA.,step-daughters, Stephanie Hall, Tampa, FL., Christi Carter, Pinellas Park, FL., grand-daughter, Michelle Phillips, Seoul, Korea, WO1 Lee Scott Carter (Katharina) and great-grandson, Soren Carter, Ft. Rucker, AL. An avid fisherman and hunter, he loved boating and water activities. He enjoyed his home on the lake, tending his roses and gardens. In his retirement years he and his wife were involved in Maltese dog rescue because of their love for the breed. He will be deeply missed by his four beloved Maltese he called “his girls.” He spent a great deal of time connecting with his past medical school classmates, students and friends on the internet. He loved teaching family members anything concerning medicine, fishing, gardening and things he was passionate about. He was renowned for his sense of humor. He was at his best when surrounded by people he could entertain and make laugh. The stories he told of his childhood and college years were many and they never failed to spread humor no matter how often he told them. VINCENT OTIS QUERIPEL, age 84, Inverness, died June 26, 2013 at Arbor Trail. Vincent was born on August 2, 1928 in Morristown, NJ to the late William and Doris (Douglas) Queripel. He was a sales and heating engineer for Ace Plumbing and Heating in Vineland, NJ. Vincent\'s ancestry dates back to the beginning of this country. His father's ancestor was born on a clipper ship two weeks out of London (Torrens) and his mother's ancestry dates back to William Brewster of Mayflower fame. He also had an ancestor (Caleb Putnam) who fought in the Revolutionary War. Vincent was a marvelously smooth ballroom dancer and certified dance instructor. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Fred D Rampey, 83, Beverly Hills, FL
On 29 May, 2013, Fred Rampey, 83, transferred his citizenship from this earth to Heaven.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Davenport Rampey, and one Son, Fred Rampey, Jr. of Ft. Collins, CO, his wife, Cindy, and two grandchildren, Erin and Tyler Rampey.   Mr. Rampey was born in Piedmont, SC. He was a member of a family of 13 children.  He was predeceased by his parents, John Samuel Rampey and Marion Major Rampey. He is survived by four brothers; Joe, Marshall, Paul, and Robert Rampey and one sister, Doris Higgins.  He served two years in the US Army during the Korean War.  After receiving a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University in 1958, he accepted a position with the Tennessee Valley Authority at Chattanooga. At TVA he served in various positions:  Section Supervisor, Chief of Transmission Planning Branch, Assistant Director of Transmission Planning & Engineering, and Project Manager of Transmission Engineering.  He retired from TVA in 1988.  In Chattanooga they attended the First Church of the Nazarene.  He served on the Church Board and taught a Sunday School Class, and he and Betty went on mission trips to Brazil, Ecuador, and Mexico.   Mr. Rampey and Betty moved to Citrus County, Florida in 1997, where they have been active in the Hernando Church of the Nazarene.  There he served on the Church Board and taught Sunday School Class.   Memorial services will be held on 7 June, 11 AM, at the Hernando Church of the Nazarene, Hernando, Florida.  Memorial gifts may be made to the building fund of the Hernando Church of the Nazarene. Bertie E. \"Bert\" Rouse, 86, Floral City, died May 14, 2013 at home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. A native of Worthington, Missouri, he was born on Dec. 11, 1926 to the late Clarence and Anna (Sparks) Rouse and moved here in 1975 from Wisconsin. Bert was a retired farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Floral City. He enjoyed being around his animals and gardening. Bert served our country during WW II in the Army, and after moving here, he worked for the Citrus County School System as a Custodian at Inverness Middle School and had his own lawn care business. Bert leaves his wife of 61 years, Helen Kirkpatrick Rouse; four children: Patrick Rouse of Hernando; Linda Ritter of San Antonio, TX; Tina Muller of Inverness; Connie Batson of Floral City; four brothers: James Rouse of Nobleton, FL; Clarence and Charles Rouse both of Missouri; Elvin Rouse of Floral City; one sister Monte Ramsey of Rockford, IL; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Matthew J. Rozalski, 88, Inverness, FL died May 12, 2013 in Citrus Health & Rehabilition Center. A native of Staten Island, NY., he was born on May 3, 1925, one of 6 children, to the late Stephen and Mary (Wilmovicz) Rozalski and moved to Citrus County in 1984 from Sarasota. He retired from the Sanitation Dept for the City of New York with 20 years of service. After moving to Florida, he retired from the City of Sarasota's VanWezel Performing Arts Center. After moving to Inverness, he retired from the Citrus County School System. Mr Rozalski served our country in the US Army during WW II. Matthew is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Golway Rozalski and his daughter, Ellen Rozalski of Tampa. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Michael, Steven and Donna Rozalski; Maureen LaTour, Walter and Kevin Golway, and Kathleen Kesselring; Honorary Grandchildren, Turner and Jordan Josey. Chester M. Wheeler, 54, Inverness, died May 8, 2013 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Chester was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on Oct 22, 1958 to the late Chester Martin Wheeler and Mary Jenkins Wheeler and came to this area in 1985 from Charleston, WV. Prior to his retirement, he owned Wheeler's Locksmith in Inverness. He was always interested in helping people and spending quality time with his family and many friends. While in West Virginia, he volunteered his time as an ambulance driver. After moving here, he volunteered at Hernando Elementary School doing carpenter work and building reading lofts for the children. He gave many hours to CASA, assisting clients who required lock smith work at no charge. He always helped those in need, no matter the hour. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Debbie Wheeler; 5 children, Angie Smallwood, Lecanto; Willy Wheeler and Chester Wheeler of Inverness; Robert Wheeler, Beverly Hills; Ashley Wheeler, Inverness; 1 brother, John of West Virginia and several half brothers and sisters of Michigan. 5 Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was a Methodist, and enjoyed dancing, hunting, building cars, and going to car shows. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Steven and Jerry. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Delores Woods. Other survivors include two sons, George W. (Linda) Woods of Dothan, Alabama, and Eugene (Laura) Woods of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; two daughters, Chris (Jerry) Wellings of Inverness, and Cindy (Buddy) Day of Dothan, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Wendy, Beckie, Donald, Darah, Lauren, Scott and Brandie; and eleven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Bryce, Brayden, Keagon, Velocity, Brandon, Addison, Caydon, and Gabe. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2013, 4:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness.

Louis John Yourth, Jr., 101, of Floral City, Florida passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his residence in Floral City, under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. He was born on January 5, 1912 in Bloomfield, New Jersy to the late Louis J. and Mary Mae (Morrison) Yourth. Louis was a residential painter, and arrived in this area in 1991, coming from Margaretsville, New York. He attended Floral City Methodist Church, and enjoyed good food and friends, but especially loved his deceased wife of ten years, Lena, who passed away in 2006. He was preceded in death by two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by one sister, Loretta Barton. Private cremation arrangements are under the care of Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, Florida.
