Joan S Allan, 84, Lecanto, FL
Joan S. Allan, 84, Lecanto, died January 12, 2016 while under the care of the staff of Rosecastle Assisted Living Facility. Joan was born on July 8, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Herbert and Evelyn (Briggs) Steenson. In 1960, she married John Ross Allan with whom she shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. In 1999, they made the move from Missouri to Citrus County. Joan loved to cook. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and pinochle, listening to music, going camping, traveling and the great outdoors. A Methodist by faith, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Inverness. In addition to her loving husband John Ross, those who will cherish her memory and mourn her passing include two sons, Jeffrey Ross (Leslie) Allan and Stephan John (Janice) Allan, both of St. Louis, MO; two brothers, Alan (Ellie) Steenson of Tampa, FL and Bruce (Char) Steenson of Tuscon, AZ; two granddaughters:, Amanda Grace and Kayleigh Louise and 4 great grandsons . A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 with Pastor Sarah Campbell of The First United Methodist Church, Inverness officiating at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.


Sean E Allen, 47, Inverness, FL
Sean Edgar Allen, age 47, of Inverness and formerly of Orlando, FL died at his home on January 27, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Sean was born on May 11, 1968 in Inverness, FL to John Otto and Carolyn (Anderson) Allen. An extremely talented and creative artist, he was employed as a scenic artist for several Orlando theme parks. A man of faith, he attended services at the Unity Church of Christianity, Orlando. In his spare time, Sean loved playing guitar, live music and attending concerts. He enjoyed grilling and barbecuing for friends and family and was excellent at trivia games. Sean was a Gators football fan. He rarely met a stranger and was a "people person". Sean was a great father and was extremely loving, caring and kind to his three daughters. Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are his wife and best friend of seventeen years, Helene Clifton; his mother, Carolyn Allen of Inverness, FL; three daughters, Sophia, Annabelle and Emily; three brothers, Travis (Shelly) Allen of Orlando, FL, Curran Hohmann of Orlando, FL and Tony Hohmann of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, John Otto Allen. A funeral service will be offered on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Floral City with Reverend Mary Gestrich officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service. The Chas E. Gayle E Bailey, 68, Inverness, FL
Gayle E. Bailey, age 68, of Inverness, FL, died January 24, 2016 at Florida Hospital Orlando surrounded by his loving family. Gayle was born August 25, 1947 in Cincinatti, OH to the late George and Lucy (Richardson) Bailey. Throughout his life, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. Gayle relocated to Citrus County from Orlando 17 years ago. He is a former member of the Orlando Moose Lodge. Gayle was also a member of the Inverness Eagles Club and I.R.R.U. In his spare time, he enjoyed motorcycles, hunting, fishing, boating, scuba diving and muscle cars. Gayle greatly enjoyed having drinks and socializing with his friends. Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his children: Connie McLaurin and her husband Charles of Eustis, FL, Timothy Bailey and his wife Lisa of San Antonio, TX; three siblings: David Bailey and his wife Barbara of Clarksville, OH, Thomas Bailey of Pensacola, FL and Donna Hernandez of Orlando, FL; five grandsons, three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter on the way. Gayle will be especially missed by his "two brothers from another mother", Bill Schooler and Pat Malloy. The Chas E. Patricia A Baker, 87, Inverness, FL
Patricia Ann Baker, 87, died January 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of the caring staff at HPH Hospice, Lecanto. Patricia was born February 2, 1928 in Latrobe, PA to the late P.J. and Anna Ruth (Marshall) Stouffer. On May 2, 1949, she married Michael Baker with whom she shared 67 wonderful years of marriage. Patricia and her husband moved to Citrus County 30 years ago from Monaca, PA. A Catholic by faith, she was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness. Patricia was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Auxillary #3992, Inverness. She was a wonderful cook and often spent her time preparing meals for the Auxillary including delicious fish frys, breakfasts and lunches. Patricia was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and wife. Those left to cherish her memory and mourn her passing are her devoted husband, Michael Baker; son: Jay Baker of Monaca, PA; daughters: Donna Marcinak, Inverness, FL and Michele (John) Garland of Mastic, NY. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jason, Stacy, Megan, Jennie, Sheena, Mindy and Lizzy; and six great-grandchildren: Logan, Lydia, Julian, Jaden, Lucas and Peter. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. with Father Tim Cummings of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church officiating. Alfred C Baldwin, 86, Coatesville, PA
Alfred Charles Baldwin, 86, of Coatesville, PA, passed away February 9, 2016 at Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala. He was born on April 17, 1929 in Caines, PA to the late Clement C. and Anna (Davis) Baldwin. Alfred was a U.S. Army veteran, and an Episcople by faith. He was an owner/operator of a campground in PA, and had been an area winter resident since 2007. He enjoyed visiting Florida. Alfred also enjoyed buying and selling cars, traveling, spending time with family, and loved working at the campground. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Hilda Baldwin. Other survivors include his children Gary James Baldwin and his fiancé, Elaine Moyer, and Sharon (Brian) Willis, all of Coatesville, and Tracy Baldwin of Salem, SC; brother Barry J. Baldwin, and sisters Jo Arlene Refford and Peggy Ann Plank; 2 grandchildren, Brandi and Daniel; and 2 great-grandchildren, Savannah and Connor. Private cremation arrangements under the care of Chas. Frederick G Balliet, 91, Inverness, FL
Frederick George Balliet was born in Scranton, PA in 1924. After Central High School he enlisted in the US Navy serving 3 years in WWII, Pacific Theater. In 1947, he married Dorothy Strauch, Daughter of Elizabeth & O. Emil Strauch. Mr. Balliet ended his professional career as Director of Environmental Services at Clarks Summit State Mental Hospital, Clarks Summit, PA. He and his wife moved to Inverness in 1985. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy; 3 daughters: Marilyn Balliet, Inverness, FL, Ginny Geier, Helena, MT, and Susan Roos, Montrose, PA; 2 son-in laws, Jerry A Geier & Eric Roos; and 2 grandsons: Thomas Mullen of Clarks Summit, PA and J. Allen Geier, Jr. of Helena, MT; and a great-grandson, Aidan Mullen of Clarks Summit, PA. Fred and his wife are members of the Inverness Assembly of God Church. Services will be at Chas. E. Bill W. Balthis, 76, Inverness passed away March 16, 2016 at the Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast in Inverness. Mr. Balthis was born in Richmond, IN on Aug 18, 1939 to the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Woods) Balthis and moved to Florida from Lansing, IL. He and his wife owned and operated Oakwood Insurance Agency in Lansing, IL. Bill served as the Mayor of Lansing for 8 years and the State House of Representatives for the State of Illinois in Springfield, IL for 6 years. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. His affiliations include the First United Methodist Church of Inverness, VFW Post in Lansing, IL, Kiwanis Club, Past President of the Park District in Lansing, past president of the Babe Ruth Baseball League, and former president of the Regency Park Condominium Association for 9 years. He was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Joann "Jody" (Trisler) Balthis; 4 sons, Bill (Tammy) Rhinehart of Losantville, IN; Tye (Lynn) Balthis, Yankton,SD; Rodney Balthis, Hobart, IN; J. William (Stephanie) Balthis, Schererville, IN; 1 daughter, Robin (Jerry) Grable, Greenville, SC; 1 brother, Bill Balthis, Greenville, OH; 3 sisters, Donna Church, Sugarland, TX; Linda Jo Pate, Centerville, IN; Marilyn Caldwell, Centerville, OH; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Gilbert Banton, 72, Hernando, FL
Gilbert Banton, age 72, of Hernando, FL, died February 25, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of the staff of HPH Hospice, Lecanto. Gilbert was born on August 18, 1943, in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica to the late James and Clara (Maithland) Banton. He had lived in Hernando for the past 24 years after relocating from West Haven, CT. A man of faith, Gilbert attended services at the First Assembly of God Church, Inverness. He was an entrepreneur and hardworking businessman that owned his own landscaping business for most of his life. Gilbert will be remembered as a loving man, a good provider and wonderful father. Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his two sons, Rohan A. Banton of Kannapolis, N.C., Wayne N. Eileen Jane Bausch, 97, Anthony, FL, former Inverness resident passed away Feb 27, 2016 at home under the loving care of her daughter and Hospice. Eileen was born in Brooklyn NY on Jan 25, 1919 to the late Albert and Anna (Ritter) Will and moved to Florida in 1981 from Glendale, NY. She was a retired accounting clerk for H.C. Bohack Food stores. She was a member of the Sparr United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 602 in New York, and former member of the Inverness Moose Lodge Women's Auxillary She is survived by her daughter, Maureen McGuire of Anthony, FL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was born on December 28, 1934 in Aliquippa, PA to the late George and Margaret (Dumfy) Evanko. Margaret was a head loan officer for several mortgages companies, and arrived in this area 14 years ago, coming from Orlando, FL. She was a Lutheran by faith, and loved playing computer games. Mildred Irene Bertrand, 79, of Inverness, FL passed away January 29, 2016 at her residence in Inverness. She was born in Jackson, MI on March 1, 1936 to the late Chester and Lottie (Camp) Maxson. Mildred was a waitress at the Pancake Chef in Mackinaw City, MI. and arrived in this area in 2009, coming from Chehoygan, MI. She was a Methodist by faith, and enjoyed crafts and jewelry making, and gambling at the casinos. She is survived by her children Brian (Gina) Cushman of Mackinaw City, MI, Michael (Barbara) Cushman of Gaylord, MI; one sister, Linda (Robert) Winters of Carp Lake, MI; and 3 grandchildren. Anne D Body, 83, Lecanto, FL
Anne D. Body, 83, of Lecanto, died March 16, 2016, at LifeCare Center. Born August 7, 1932, in New York City, Mrs. Body moved to Hernando with her husband Joseph, now deceased, from East Meadow, N.Y. in 1998. Her late parents, Harry and Nancy Osyczka, were also longtime residents of Citrus County. Mrs. Body retired from Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow, N.Y., after a long career as a medical secretary. Both she and her husband, who were married 60 years, grew up in New York City and later lived in Iceland before settling in East Meadow, L.I., where they raised their two daughters. Among Mrs. Body’s many interests were a love of cooking, especially unearthing and collecting unique recipes, and community engagement, including volunteering for the Citrus County Board of Elections, being a member of the Red Hat Society and supporting local theater groups. She and her husband were also seasoned worldwide travelers. And throughout her life, Mrs. Body richly engaged the art, dance and other traditions of her Ukrainian ethnicity. But it was her family that was at the forefront of her life. And the birth of her granddaughter, Tasha, was among the most joyous and loving moments of a life defined by a deep love and protection of her family. Left to mourn her passing aretwo daughters, Joanne Osenenko and husband Derek of Woodstock, N.Y.; Susan Madden and husband Kevin of East Meadow, N.Y.; and granddaughter Tasha Madden-Stasi and husband Luciano of West Islip, N.Y. and cherished great grand dog Peanut. He was born in Oxford Depot, New York on May 18, 1931 to the late Charles C. and Zebra (Learman) Borre. James was a self employed truck driver and arrived in this area in 1977, coming from Hampton, N.J. He was a protestant by faith and attended the Hernando Baptist Church. Robert D Bourque, 82, Inverness, FL
Robert David Bourque, 82, of Inverness Florida passed away March 4, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness. He was born in Fitchburg, MA on October 31, 1933 to the late Joseph A. and Evelyn (Wells) Bourque. Robert was a U.S. Army veteran, and an Electrical Engineer for Fitchburg Gas and Electric Company, which became Unitil, for 30 years. He arrived in this area in 1995, coming from West Townsend, MA, and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. He loved working in his woodworking shop, being on the computer, traveling, and repairing anything mechanical. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lorraine Bourque. Other survivors include his son Robert D. Bourque, Jr. of New York City, NY; daughter Jacqueline (David) Amico of Fitchburg, MA, brother Roger Bourque of Ft. Myers, FL, sister Theresa Fitzpatrick, also of Fitchburg, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Monday, March 14, 2:00 P.M. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, Inverness. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service. Robert's urn will be laid to rest in Massachusetts at a later date.


JoAnn Boyd, 86, Ocala / Formerly of Beverly Hills, FL
JoAnn Boyd, age 86, Ocala, formerly of Beverly Hills, died March 11, 2016 while under the care of Windsor of Ocala Assisted Living Facility and Hospice of Marion County. JoAnn was born in Greenfield, Indiana on March 31, 1929 to Frank and Arta (Ghere) Stillwell. In 1994, she and her husband, Terry, moved to Laurel Ridge, Beverly Hills from Encino and Mission Viejo, California. JoAnn was known in Citrus County for her watercolor paintings and was a member of the Citrus County Watercolor Club, The Citrus Art Center, Nature Coast Painters, Florida Art Society and a past President of the Ocala Art Group. Her paintings are displayed in homes and businesses all over the County. JoAnn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Terry Boyd. Others that preceded her in death are her twin brother, Joe Stillwell; brother, Billy A. Stillwell; and sister, Mary Lou Stillwell, all of Frankfort, Indiana. At JoAnn's request, there will be no services or viewing. Interment at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, will take place at a later date. Adelaide Brennan, 88, Hernando, FL
Adelaide Brennan, 88, of Hernando, FL passed away March 25 2016 under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Inverness, FL. She was born on October 30, 1927 in Welfare Island, NY to the late Nathan and Emily (Stackler) Brennan. Adelaide was a seamstress, and arrived in this area in 1985, coming from Staten Island, NY. She was a Catholic by faith, and loved spending time with her family, cooking, and enjoying her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, John E. Bowcock, Sr., 3 sons, Michael, Glenn and Gary Bowcock; 2 brothers, Frank and John Gustaveno; and 3 sisters, Rita Tanzosh, Marie Brennan, and Irene Van Pelt. Survivors include sons John (Mary) Bowcock of Manassas, VA, Daniel (Sheri) Bowcock of Hernando, FL, Steven (Carrie) Bowcock of Tampa, FL, Warren Bowcock of Staten Island, NY and Wayne Bowcock of Hernando FL; daughters Joann Pirrella of Dunnellon, FL and Lauri (Peter) Pepe of Palm Bay, FL, and sister Pauline Gibbons; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Shirley Bullock, 89, Inverness, FL
Shirley D. Bullock, 89, Inverness passed away Jan 2, 2016 at the Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast facility in Inverness. Mrs Bullock was born March 20, 1926 in Syracuse, NY to the late Robert and Mary (Snyder) Truax and came to Florida in 1987 with her late husband, Joseph Bullock who passed away Feb. 22, 1989. She worked in the air conditioning industry before retirement and was a member of St Margaret's Episcopal Church. She is survived by three sisters, Evelyn Hallenbeck and Dorothy Klaczko, both of Inverness and Norma Cannon of McAllen, TX; one brother, Robert Truax of Cicero, NY; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She also leaves two stepchildren, Joseph Bullock and Judith Ryder. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 4:00 PM from the Chas E Davis Funeral Home with The Rev. Lloyd E Butler, 89, Elk Rapids, MI
Lloyd E. Butler, 89, of Elk Rapids, MI, died January 22, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. Lloyd was born May 3, 1926 in Bellaire, MI to the late James and Mary Elizabeth (Bush) Butler. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II. After returning to civilian life, Lloyd was employed as a claims manager in the insurance industry. He moved to Elk Rapids, MI in 1982 however, for the past fifteen years, he was a winter resident of Inverness, FL. A Presbyterian by faith, Lloyd was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Elk Rapids. He was also a member of the Elk Rapids Amvets and Rotary Club. Lloyd believed in giving back to his community and did so by delivering for the Elk Rapids Meals on Wheels program and volunteering his time at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. In his spare time, he loved a good game of golf and also enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors. Other hobbies and interests for Lloyd include skiing, snowmobiling, traveling and taking cruises. He especially loved spending time with his significant other, Hilda Vasseliou, who will greatly miss his companionship. Others left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are his four children: Phillip (Brenda) Butler of Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Canada, Deborah Butler White of Madison, CT, Alan Butler of Traverse City, MI and Richard (Beth) Butler of Gaylord, MI; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. William was born on November 3, 1948 in McMinnville, TN to the late Winford A. and Anna Frances Campbell. He worked as a Health Physics Technician in the Nuclear Power Industry and served his country as a member of the United States Navy. She was born on January 29, 1932 in Hartford CT to the late William Z. and Joyce M. (Hicks) Miller. Carol was a homemaker, and a Jehovah's Witness by faith. She arrived in this area in 1994, coming from Middletown, CT. She loved animals, especially dogs, and she was a beautiful seamstress. Carol also enjoyed cooking. She was like Tabitha in the Bible, "Abounded in good deeds and the gifts that was rendering". All who knew her, loved her. Carol was preceded in death by one son William Carlson. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Russell A. Carlson. Donald L. Carpenter, age 85, of Inverness, FL died on February 20, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Donald was born on February 25, 1930 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Thomas and Florence (Vanata) Carpenter. From 1948 to 1952 he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Salem. After his service in the military, Donald was employed as a Fork Lift Driver for Sears and Roebuck for 27 years. In 1951, he married Ethel May Thistle, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage until her passing on December 16, 2011. Donald was a member of the Parkinson's Association and the USS Salem Association. In his free time he enjoyed woodworking and playing cards. He is survived by his two sister in-laws, Doris Parsons and Ella Nardone of Inverness, FL; his nephews, Bob, Ed, & Terry Carpenter, Dan Tonkery, David Riehn, Bob & Brian Parsons, John Thistle, Bob, David, and John Nardone; his nieces, Patricia Carpenter, Joyce Webb, Kathy Tenney, Nancy Riehn, and Kendra McQueen; several great-nieces and nephews. Mr. Chamblin was born in Leesburg, Florida on September 6, 1930 to the late Nicholas and Mary (Smith) Chamblin and came to this area in the 1940. He retired from the Inverness Post Office as a window service technician with 27 years of service and served our country in the U.S. Army. Wanda owned and operated a boat dock business prior to retirement and was Catholic by faith. She is survived by her daughter, Geraldine "Gerie" and husband Ellis Crews of Floral City and her son, Guy Allen Clark and his wife Angie of Corusegold, CA; and her eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Donald on March 5, 2002. Michael Anthony Cochran, 59, of Inverness, FL, died January 22, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born on September 25, 1956 in Fort Bragg, NC to Walton "Mickey" and Janice (Cadle) Cochran. He moved to Citrus County eighteen years ago from Palm Beach County, FL. Throughout most of his life Michael was employed as a technician for the HVAC industry. However, his true passion was art. Michael was an extremely talented artist and excelled at painting, drawing and making stained glass. He was very technically skilled and enjoyed working on computers. Michael also loved motorcycles. He loved animals, especially his two shih tzu's, Lewlew and Snoopy. Alexander Glenn Covey, age 72, of Dunnellon, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2016 surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Alexander was born on July 20, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to the late John and Margaret (Phillips) Covey. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. After his service in the military, Alexander was employed as an industrial water treatment consultant for 30 years. Alexander was an educated man and received his Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry with a Minor in Mathematics. On March 25, 2000 he married Eva "Jo" Goude with whom he shared over 16 wonderful years of marriage. In October 2004, they relocated to Marion County from Troy, NC. A Methodist by faith, Alexander was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dunnellon. In his spare time, he enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and anything to do with chemistry and mathematics. Her family was her priority and she was always there for each of them. Nadia was a good wife, a good mother and good grandmother. She was a member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Inverness. Patricia was a loving wife and Mother who enjoyed participating in water aerobics at the Whispering Pines pool. She also enjoyed oil painting, traveling, attending her church, and spending time with her family. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 62 years, Charles L. Iva Mae Edwards, 93, of Inverness, FL passed away February 1, 2016 at her residence in Inverness. She was born on February 10, 1922 in Blairsville, PA to the late Frank and Elsie (Erb) Baker. Iva was an electronics assembler and arrived in this area in 1993, coming from Miami, FL. She was a Methodist by faith, and volunteered at the Senior Services Center. HOWARD RAYMOND ERNSTING      Howard Raymond Ernsting, age 88, of Inverness, FL. He was born April 27, 1927 to the late Raymond and Frieda (Meierhoff) Ernsting in Campbell Hill, IL. After a long struggle with Parkinson's, passed away Saturday evening February 6, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. surrounded by his loving family, while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.     Howard was a member of First Lutheran Church in Inverness, FL, was an Elder, Usher, on the Stewardship Committee and former Vice President of the local Thrivent Association.     He married Maydell (Wilson) Ernsting on November 15, 1952 at Peace Lutheran Church in Steeleville, IL and were married for 63 years and survives at the home.   He served in the Merchant Marines from June 1945 - 1949 and the U. S Army from 1949 - 1951 then transferred to the Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1957. He worked for Southern Illinois Breeding Association, was a Carpenter and Millwright for most of his life and retired from Florida Crushed Stone in 1991. His hobbies included sailing, woodworking, camping and spending time with his family.     He is survived by one son Marcus Paul Ernsting (Patty) of Lake City,FL; two daughters Patricia Mae(James) Sternberg of Columbia, MO; Melissa Kay Gilhooly of Davenport,IA; four grandchildren Jill Lynn Brock of Springfield, Mo; Christopher Scott Sternberg of Seattle, WA; Christopher Bryan and Mary Katelynn Gilhooly of Davenport, IA; three great grandchildren Maggie Lynn and Sadie Mae Brock and Seamus Daniel Gilhooly; one brother Earl Ernsting of Percy, IL. and many brothers and sisters in-laws, nieces and nephews.      He was preceded in death by one brother John Paul Ernsting of Steeleville, IL and Three brother-in-laws Melivin Wilson of Steeleville, IL; Earl Wilson of Chester, IL; and Delbert Wilson of Arnold, MO.      Memorial Service will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First Lutheran Church of Inverness, FL with Rev. Everett James Fogal, 91 of Inverness, died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at his home under the care of his caregivers and HPH Hospice. Born on September 14, 1924 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Franklin H. and Anna Fogal, he came here in 1995 from Phoenix, Arizona. Everett was a retired bus driver for New York City Department of transportation. He served our Country in the US Army during WWII, serving in Central Europe and the Rhineland. Everett was a 34 year member of the Spring Hill Elks Lodge; a member of the Inverness VFW Post 4337 and he enjoyed dancing with his late wife of 61 years, Evelyn, who preceded him in death on July 31, 2008. Maria E. Gallardo, 76, of Inverness, FL, died on January 9, 2016 after a long illness surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of the staff of Citrus Memorial Hospital. Maria was born on January 13, 1939 in Weslaco, TX to the late Roberto and Rita (Supulveda) Rivera. A Catholic by faith, she was a deeply religious woman and formerly a member of the St. Joan of Ark Catholic Church in Weslaco, TX. Maria was a wonderful and loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family and others. After she and her husband, Antonio, became "empty-nesters", they rediscovered life. Maria enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, taking vacations and shopping. She was always on the go and tried to live life to its fullest each and everyday. Joseph M Gigliotti, 74, Inverness, FL
JOSEPH M. GIGLIOTTI, 74, Inverness, FL, died January 6, 2016 surrounded by his loving family while under the care of the staff of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Joseph was born on September 27, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA. to Michael Angelo and Pauline (Lesante) Gigliotti. He served his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne. He was employed for much of his life as a mechanic for the trucking industry however, he was truly a "jack-of-all-trades" and not afraid to try his hand at many different business ventures. In his lifetime, Joseph owned several restaurants, a trucking company, and a Bed and Breakfast. He had also been a hair stylist, realtor, commercial driving and scuba diving instructor, a tour bus driver throughout the United States including Alaska, and finally a salesman. He also served two 18 month tours in Iraq as a civilian contractor working as a mechanic and driving trucks in convoys, where at times he was under fire and exposed to IED's. Joseph was a world traveler exploring Europe, Russia, China, Africa and Central America. In his spare time, Joseph enjoyed tinkering with boats and motors. He also enjoyed jet skiing, fishing and cooking. Joseph loved the water and has been a resident of Inverness for the past ten years. At the time of his passing, Joseph was working on his autobiography of his life's incredible experiences. Adrian T. Gilmore, Jr., age 91, of Inverness, FL, died February 4, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Adrian was born October 4, 1924 in Buffalo, NY to the late Ehel (Cook) and Adrian Gilmore, Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1946. Adrian was a World War II Veteran and was deployed to Normandy, France but also served in Luxembourg and Belgium. After his military service, Adrian went on to attend Cornell University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture. He continued at Cornell University in a teaching capacity and taught individuals from all over the world agricultural skills that they could take and utilize in their home countries. Adrian was a dedicated farmer throughout his life. On the rare occasion that he was able to take a vacation, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. After his retirement, Adrian spent his time making wooden children's toys and donating them to children's hospitals. After a long illness, Gerald Alan Graber (Jerry), 59, passed into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus on February 19, 2016. He was born in Alliance, Ohio on January 7, 1957 to Donald and Arlene Graber. The family moved to Dunedin, FL in 1971 and he graduated from Dunedin High School in 1975. Jerry moved to Floral City, FL in 1976. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ennis, in 1977. They have shared a deep love for 38 years. Jery always introduced her as his "Bride" and she always addressed him as "My Jerry." He owned and operated Graber Automotive in Inverness, FL for 28 years. Jerry and Patty Spent their leisure time on the Homosassa River, fishing, boating, and diving. He always called the Homosassa River his playground. A man of many talents, one of his favorite hobbies was building beautiful radio controlled airplanes and flying them. Jerry also loved to teach his grandson, Calvin, many things, including target shooting and playing chess. Jerry was a very kind man and always ready to lend a helping hand whenever he was needed. Roslie Greenwell-Kilgus 77, of Inverness, died on Friday, January 22, 2016 at her home. Rose was born on July 19, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Florida in 1994. She was a graduate of Waller High School and was employed by Cotter & Company (True Value National Corporate Headquarters) for 36 years, holding the position of Internal Auditor. Rose served as a board member of the Friends of the Senior Centers, the American Heart Association and the Citrus Memorial Annual Fund raising Ball Committee, at which she was an annual patron donor. During her residence in Inverness she belonged to the Inverness Moose Lodge #1773, the Illinois Club, New York Club, Citrus American and Italian Club and the Highland Civic Association. She attended Our Lady of Fatima Church. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Alice (Marker) Veloria and Louis Veloria, Sister Bernadette Lois Veloria (1958). She was also preceded by her first husband, David Walter Greenwell (1/10/2004) and her second husband, Glen Arthur Kilgus (4/11/2013) and her son Donald Greenwell (8/13/2013), who is survived by his daughter, Shawnna Marie; and her son-in-law Peter Paul Beinor (6/2/2010). Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Anita Rose Beinor of Inverness and her son David Walter (Laura) Greenwell, Bristol, WI. Lucille "Lucy Goosey" Evelyn Gunn, 71, of Inverness, Florida, died Wednesday, March 2, 2016. Lucy was born on March 6, 1944, in Miami, Florida, to the late Woodrow Winston and Evelyn (Wile) Gunn, Sr. She has two surviving brothers, Barnette K. Gunn, III, and Woodrow (Buzz) Gunn, Jr.; and a sister, Sharron J. Gunn; she was preceded in death by her brother, Wyvonne C. Gunn. Lucille was a member of Iglesia Bautista West Flagler Park Church in Miami, and attended Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Inverness. She was a lifelong inspiration to her nieces and nephews with her exuberant enthusiasm, her zest for life and learning. Lucille had a playful and adventurous spirit, a joyful smile of love, boundless energy, and a remarkable ability for math. Lucille had tremendous navigational skills which allowed her great independence, when traveling from Old Cutler to downtown Miami to Hialeah, and as far as West Palm Beach, all on her bicycle. We all feel her deep presence with only the image of her beautiful smile. She will experience the very bright light that she is, now that she is in heaven. We all are very grateful for all the wonderful times we've shared, and so much we've learned from her growing up: 8 times 8 fell on the floor, when I picked it up, it was 64! William R Hicks, 89, Bushnell, FL
William Roger Hicks, age 89, of Bushnell, FL, died at his residence on March 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of Cornerstone Hospice. May God let the sun shine on him always and forever. William was born on July 18, 1926 in Willard, OH to the late Clarence and Florence (Coy) Hicks. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant as a member of the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 and was a Veteran of World War II. William was the proud father of three children that he raised solely on his own. He was an excellent provider for them and was their lifelong fierce protector. William greatly enjoyed nature, fishing and all the activities his children were involved in throughout their lives. He was a race car and motorcycle driver and was sponsored by Sinclair Oil at one time. In his spare time, William enjoyed watching football and racing. A skilled carpenter throughout his lifetime, precise, creative and beautiful handywork can be seen everywhere in and around his home. He also worked as a project manager in construction for Blake and Sarasota Hospitals for a number of years. John David Horvath, 88, Inverness, FL passed away January 4, 2016 under the care of HPH Hospice in Lecanto, FL. He was born on November 10, 1927 in Holiday's Cove, W. VA to the late William and Amelia (Ulika) Horvath. John was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran, and worked as a foreman with National Steel Co., being an employee for 37 years. He arrived in this area in 1990, coming from Spring Hill, FL and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. His memberships include: life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6391; American Legion Post #77, Inverness; and he served as a former board member of the Royal Oaks Homeowners Association. John enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, going to the beach, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Horvath. Other survivors include his children David Horvath and his spouse Susan , and Daniel Horvath, all of Greensboro, N.C., and Diane Horvath and her spouse Khlaire of Toronto, Canada; 3 granddaughters, Maren, Natalie, and Heather; and 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Madison, and Brody. David W. Johnston, age 74, of Inverness, FL died March 21, 2016 while under the care of Arbor Trail Nursing Home, Inverenss. David was born on September 23, 1941 in Farmington, MI to the late Earl and Virginia Johnston. A welder by trade, he was employed as a boilermaker throughout his life. In 1963, he married Christine Church, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage until her passing in 2013. David made Citrus County his home 30 years ago after relocating from Michigan. A Baptist by faith, he attended services at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness. David loved to shop. He was also a talented and resourceful handyman and could build and repair just about anything. David also loved cars, racing, crafts and woodworking. He enjoyed watching sports and hunting and fishing in his spare time. David will be remembered as a generous man with a big heart, a great father and someone that was always there to help others in their time of need. Maryanne K. Kocinski, age 66, of Inverness, FL, died January 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Maryanne was born on September 29, 1949 in Ann Arbor, MI to the late John and Lyda (Rowe) Kocinski. In 1985, Maryanne moved to Inverness from Mesa, AZ and worked for a number of years for the Citrus County School system. She was intrigued by the paranormal and enjoyed ghost hunting and visiting psychics. Maryanne also loved the Disney theme parks and going to the movies. When she was younger, she enjoyed horseback riding. Maryanne loved animals, especially dogs. She will be greatly missed by her miniature pinscher, Jack. Joseph G Krajewski, 89, Floral City, FL
Joseph G. Krajewski, age 89, of Inverness, FL, died February 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Joseph was born in Enfield, CT on May 17, 1926 to the late Joseph J. and Leza (Sage) Krajewski. A World War II veteran, he proudly served in the United States Navy submarine service from 1944 to 1946. After his military service, Joseph worked in law enforcement as a Connecticut State Trooper for 22 years. On November 6, 1977, he married Mary Wahlstedt, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. After his retirement, they relocated from Suffield, CT to Inverness, FL where he resided for the past 14 years. Joseph was a lifetime member of the Floral City, FL VFW Post #7122 and a member of the Connecticut State Police Academy Alumni Association. A man of faith, he attended services at the Floral City United Methodist Church. Joseph loved music. He played harmonica and bass guitar over the years. Joseph and his wife Mary enjoyed singing together and once sang the National Anthem at Tropicana Field for a Rays baseball game. He was an advanced licensed ham radio operator and loved fishing and boating in his spare time. Joseph also built and raced mini stock cars. He loved spending time with his wife and best friend, Mary who will greatly miss him. Lois R. Lawson, age 76, of Beverly Hills, FL, died March 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. Lois was born in Brooklyn, NY on October 26, 1939 to the late August and Ruth (Madson) Anderson. On August 14, 1960, she married Gary Lawson with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. In 1999, Lois relocated to Florida from Staten Island, NY. In her youth, she was a member of the Hi-Y youth group and a Girl Scout. Lois went on to become a den mother for her son's Boy Scout troops. She attended Brooklyn College and was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. A woman of faith, Lois is a former member of the Kings Highway Methodist Church in Brooklyn, NY and the Huguenot Reformed Church in Staten Island, NY. She played basketball for the Kings Highway YMCA Church League for a few years. Lois wore many hats throughout her professional life and had been employed as a nurse and special education teacher. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. Lois also had a tremendous love and talent for painting. Camille Losciale, 92, of Inverness, FL passed away March 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 5, 1924 and was raised by her single parent, Elivera Zarandi. Camille was a devoted homemaker and arrived in this area in 1974, coming from Queens, NY. She was Catholic by faith, and attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness, and was a member of the Italian Social Club of Citrus County. Camille loved people and people loved her. She was very strong and fiercely independent. Camille loved to entertain family and friends at home, and loved her family dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, William "Bill" Losciale in 2009, a brother, Phillip Zanardi, and a sister, Theresa Loconsolo. David Lupo, 72 of Floral City, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at his home under the loving care of his family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Mr. Lupo was born in New Haven, CT on March 25, 1943. He moved to south Florida as a child, grew up there, and retired from the City of Hialeah as a manager in their solid waste department. After retiring in 1996, he moved to Tennessee and remained there until 2006 when he returned to Florida to be near his family. David loved all water activities, including fishing and enjoyed traveling as well. Ruth L. Luttrell, 87, Floral City, FL passed away March 31, 2016 at her residence following a long illness. She was cared for by her loving family, All About Caring, and Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast. Ruth was born in Floral City on November 21, 1928 to the late Frank N. and Rosa (Priester) Stokes. She retired from the Postal Service with 23 years of service, having been a postal carrier for the Floral City Post Office. She was a member of the Floral City United Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed fishing and tending to her herd of cows. Left to treasure her memory is her daughter, Rose Mary Sullivan and her husband, Joseph of Inverness; 2 grandchildren, Rebecca Johnson and Sarah Bellamy; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayla, Trinton, and Torah; several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Willie L. Luttrell on Jan 18, 2010; 3 brothers, Frank Jr., Herman, and J.B. Stokes; 1 sister, Ruby Granger. Bonnie J Mank, 63, Floral City, FL
Bonnie June Mank, age 63, of Floral City, Florida, died February 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the excellent care of Sturgill Hospice Care in Brooksville, FL. Bonnie was born in Champaign, IL on October 12, 1952 to the late Winston Cleveland and Loleta June (Smith) Mank. Throughout her life, Bonnie wore many hats, both personally and professionally. She was an amazing mother, "Grandmother of the Century" and a loving and devoted wife and friend. Bonnie was extremely intelligent, curious, and creative. She spent a lot of her free time discovering new and different outlets for her creative energy, including pottery, stained glass. glass blowing, bead work, decorating and gardening, to name a few. Professionally she had been a nurse, a potter, worked in IT and most recently she was employed as an electrical / instrument designer for the oil industry in Northern Alaska. Bonnie truly loved her job and the many friends she made on the Northern Slope. As a lifelong Christian, she found a home at the First Baptist Church of Floral City. Her faith and new found friends helped her to deal with many of the struggles she would encounter battling pancreatic cancer over the last year of her life. To Bonnie, life was an adventure. She always wanted to travel to new places and learn new things. She loved to read, make art, snuggle kitties, play with her grandsons, and ride on the back of her husband's Harley. She is survived by those who will miss her dearly: her loving husband, Steve Turney of Floral City, FL; son Benjamin Mank, his wife Stacey Mank and their children Elias and Wesley Mank of South East Alaska; and daughter, Sierra Dawkins of Denver, Colorado. John "Jack" V McCrave, 78, Inverness, FL
John V. “Jack” McCrave, 78, Inverness passed away suddenly at home on Jan 22, 2016. Mr McCrave was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 21, 1937 to the late John J. and Josephine (Griffin) McCrave and moved to Florida in 1979 from Staten Island. He retired from the construction industry as a general contractor, having built several homes in this area. Jack served our country in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He was active in the Hernando Sportsmens Club, having founded the Quick Draw organization and was a member of the SASS Society. He also enjoyed martial arts as a member of the VADHA Federation and held the title of MAHa Master for the United States. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Packer) McCrave; five children, Jack (Teresa) McCrave, Cumming, GA; Teresa McCrave, Jacksonville, FL; Sharon (Brian) Reed, Inverness; Rory (Carla) McCrave, Kansas City, Kansas; Vincent McCrave, Inverness, FL; 10 grandchildren. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, Jan. 29th at 10:00 AM from Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery. Mark T McKay, 58, Floral City, FL
Mark Thomas McKay, age 58, of Floral City, FL formerly of St. Petersburg, passed away on February 28, 2016 after bravely facing many health issues. Mark was born on September 17, 1957 in Clearwater, FL to Thomas and Barbara (Davis) McKay. He relocated to Floral City one year ago and was able to live his final year in the country, fishing and enjoying the peace and quiet. On June 26, 2003, he married Rachel Girardo, the love of his life. Mark was a member of a pipe smokers club and the NRA. He loved fishing and all sports, especially the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He followed politics closely and enjoyed watching Fox News daily. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Rachel and his cat Jager. He is also survived by his two brothers, Doug (Sharon) McKay of Milton Mills, ME, and Dennis McKay of Milton, NH; three sisters, Debbie Castel who resides in France, Cheryl (McCoy) Collins of St. Petersburg, FL, and Wendy (Bill) Fairhurst of Hudson, FL. Terry Lee McLeod, 74, Inverness passed away March 30, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. A native of Inverness, Terry was born Nov 28, 1941 to the late Oscar Penn and Mayo Artie (Reams) McLeod, one of twelve children, in the family residence (The McLeod House) which still remains on North Apopka Avenue as a restaurant. He lived the majority of his life in Inverness, having retired as a professional land surveyor with the original Henigar & Ray Engineering Company in Crystal River. Terry graduated from Citrus High School where he played football and other sports with his brothers. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Arlene (Troast) McLeod; three children, Tara L. Norris and her husband, Phillip of Inverness; Sherri Lee Russo and husband, John of Gainesville, MO; Roger L. Mason, Jr. of Inverness; two brothers, C.J. McLeod of Weeki Wachee, FL; Joseph McLeod of Inverness; 5 grandchildren: Lucy, Michael, John Jeffrey, Matthew, and Jacob and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 7 brothers: Reams, Bud, Harvey, Ernest, Ray, Bill, Harold; and 2 sisters: Eloise and Kate. Robert J Merrihue, 65, Floral City, FL
Robert J. Merrihue, age 65, of Floral City, formerly of Clearwater, FL, died unexpectedly at his residence on March 19, 2016. Robert was born on July 3, 1950 in Bronx, NY to the late George James and Theresa (Convey) Merrihue. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam war and was a recipient of a Purple Heart. In 1986, Robert relocated to Florida and eventually made Floral City his home. In 2004, he married Frances Lambs Leahy. A Catholic by faith, Robert attended services at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Inverness, FL. He was a member of the Floral City V.F.W. Post #7122, and a former member of the Amvets and American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, plants, cooking on the grill and being outdoors. In addition to his loving wife Frances, those left to mourn his passing are his son: Robert James (Laura) Merrihue of Pennsylvania; his brother: Jim Merrihue of Massapequa Park, NY; two sisters: Donna (James) Lillie of Ronkonkoma, NY and Nancy (Edward) Rakowski of Southern Shores, NC. Beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend April L. Millican passed away January 21, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, Florida. She was born Oct 24, 1953 in Tampa, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Mark S. Millican, her daughters Mary Amanda Millican and Elizabeth Ann Millican, her mother Mary Emmerson, her sister Carol Gillette, her brothers John Gillette and Mike Gillette, and her cats, Teddy and Gracie.  April was well travelled, having accompanied Mark and their daughters and on numerous tours of duty overseas. She was an avid doll collector, quilter, crafter, writer, and computer enthusiast. She was also a voracious reader and would read (or listen to) an entire book practically every day. A favorite saying of hers was "you must have a sense of the ridiculous to survive" and she lived that way, quick to laugh and enjoy life's simpler pleasures. Her widely varied interests, and true love of people, stories, and conversation made her many dear friends throughout her life from near and far. She was always willing to help anyone who needed it with advice or encouragement. Services will be held Wednesday, January 27th at 11am, with a reception beginning at 10am, at Chas E. Davis Funeral Home, 3075 S. Florida Avenue in Inverness, Florida. Robert A Mitchell, Jr., 79, Floral City, FL
Robert A. Mitchell, Jr., 79 of Floral City, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016 under the loving care of his wife, at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Lecanto. Born in Wellsburg, West Virginia, he came her in 1992 from St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr Mitchell retired from the US Air Force as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the St. Petersburg American Legion Post #14 for 39 years. Robert was also a ham radio operator, enjoyed woodworking and had his own wood work shop, was a handyman around his home. He met his best friend and partner in life, Brenda in 1968 in Miami Beach. After their marriage in 1972 they lived in Coral Gables prior to moving to St. Petersburg in 1975. A memorial service for Robert will take place later in Canada. He will be intered at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of the Chas. E. She was a Jehovah's Witness by faith, and enjoyed fishing in Canada, snowmobiling, going to yard sales, and reading. Verla is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Paul D. Moffat. He enjoyed NASCAR, motor sports, and painting. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Moman. He retired from Florida's Dept of Transportation as an engineer with over 20 years of service and served our country in both the U.S. Navy and Air Force. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and spending time with his family. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Arline Mott; two daughters, Kim Mott, Franklin, TN; Michelle Rositani, Waterbury, CT; two brothers, Gary Mott and David Mott, both of Brooksville; one sister, Patricia Howard, Sumter, SC; four grandchildren: Erica, Sofia, Roma, and Joey. Kenneth Jacob Murphy, 92, of Inverness, FL passed away March 12, 2016 at Pleasant Grove Manor ALF in Inverness. He was born on April 20, 1923 in Hartland, VT to the late Julian and Emily (Kibler) Murphy. Kenneth was a U.S. Navy, WWII Veteran, and owner of a farm equipment company. He arrived in this area in 1985, coming from Quechee, VT and was Methodist by faith. He liked fishing, but enjoyed golfing more. Kenneth also enjoyed watching TV, gardening, farming. He loved his grandchildren, as well as his pets and animals. Kenneth was preceded in death by a son, Reginald Murphy, and 2 sisters, Orvilla Murphy and Priscilla Atwood. He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Virginia Murphy. Other survivors include his children Malcolm Murphy of Inverness, Michael (Kelly) Murphy of Enfield, NH, and Kimberly Murphy also of Inverness; brother Jack Murphy; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Aubrey E. Nelson., 81 of Tarpon Springs (formally Pensacola) passed away Wednesday February 24th, 2016 at Brookside Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife Clara Nelson. He is survived by his four children Vicki (Robert) Brady, Theresa Nelson, Aubrey (Laura) Nelson Jr., and Donna Lewis. Nellie L Obial, 88, Hernando, FL
Nellie Logarta Obial of Hernando, Florida - formerly from Cincinnati, Ohio entered Heaven's Gate on February 15, 2016. She was born in Cebu, Philippines November 24, 1927 and lived a long happy life with her husband of 60 years, Gaudencio "Obie" Obial. She grew up in the Philippines surrounded by a large loving family and was a teacher. Upon marrying Obie, they moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to begin their family together. Her magnetic personality attracted many friends and she quickly became an active member of their community. A consummate mother and homemaker, Nellie was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining friends and family. She was the Chairwoman of the American Medical Association - Education Research Fund, member of the Auxillary to the Cincinnati Academy of Medicine as well as the American Philippine Physicians Association of Greater Cincinnati and a lifelong member of the National Republican Party. Upon retirement in Florida, Nellie and Obie traveled extensively and had many unique stories to share. She was devoted to her prayer community and was actively involved with her church. Nellie enjoyed cooking, shopping, gardening and visiting with friends and family. Nellie is survived by her loving husband Gaudencio, son Dennis Obial and his wife Ashley (Lehman), daughters Renee Obial and Leah Obial Gates and her husband Andrew, and grandsons Jonathan Obial and Alec Gates. Mary Catherine Palma, 81, Inverness passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Citrus Health & Rehab following a long illness. Mary was born in New York City on April 23, 1934 to the late James P. and Catherine (Crowley) Burke and moved to Florida from Bethel, CT. She operated the H & R Block Tax Service in Wildwood prior to retirement and was of the Catholic Faith. She is predeceased in death by her siblings Margaret Griffin, Patricia Corona and John Burke, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Carlo J. Palma, Sr. She will be greatly missed by her three children, Jeanne (Bob) Palma-Hughes, Carlo J. (Debra) Palma, Jr., and Vincenza (Carmine) Tremante. Mary was a loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Donald L Payne, 83, Hernando, FL
Donald L. Payne, age 83, of Hernando, FL, died February 15, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born on June 20, 1932 in Charleston, West Virginia to the late Doyle and Martha (Hollinsworth) Payne. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and retired as a Master Sergeant after 24 years of service. On September 5, 1952, Donald married Janet P. Silva, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. He was a man of faith and a member of the Seven Rivers Presbyterian Church, Lecanto. Donald was involved with the church's Disaster Response Team and had donated much of his time and effort to the Gulf Coast area after Hurricane Katrina. He was also a neighboorhood watch volunteer for the Citrus County Sherriff's Office. In his spare time, Donald enjoyed geocaching, traveling and bowling. He also liked building and constructing things. In addition to his loving wife, Janet, others left to mourn Donald's passing and cherish his memory are his son: Dale (Mary) Payne of Sunrise, FL; his daughters: Linda (Henry) Arnold of Eden Valley, MN and Debra (Don) Owsley of Deltona, FL; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Burr L."Bud" Poierier, age 84, of Inverness, FL died March 23, 2016 while under the care of HPH Hospice, Lecanto. Burr was born on February 27, 1932 in Chicago, IL to the late Louis and Grace (Gott) Poierier. In 1953, he married Carol Good, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Burr proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. After his military service, he was a member of the Chicago area Pipe Fitters Union for a number of years. In 1983, Burr moved to Pinellas County, FL from Hoffman Estates, IL and was a corrections officer with the Pinellas County Sheriffs Office. He made Citrus County his home in 2000, shortly after retirement. During his military service, he won many awards for his sharp shooting skills and enjoyed going to the gun range in his spare time. Burr loved to play pool and play cards with friends. He was an avid coin collector and very handy around the house. In addition to his loving wife Carol, those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are two sons: Michael (Marilyn) Poierier of Park Ridge, IL and Mark Poierier of Citrus Springs, FL; his daughter: Linda Poierier of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Dolores E. Ponkey, 91, of Lecanto, FL, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, passed away February 19, 2016 at Brentwood Lodge in Lecanto. She was born in Iron Mountain, MI on February 8, 1925 to the late Grover and Lydia (Burkman) Hiler. Dolores was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She recently resided at Brentwood Lodge in Lecanto, FL. Prior to that, she resided in Spring Hill, Fl for 30 plus years, and enjoyed traveling, entertainment, golfing, skiing, and loved the outdoors. Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Joseph L. Ponkey, and a son, Joseph L. Ponkey, Jr. Survivors include her children Joyce Gabler of Kingman, AZ, Joanne (Donald) Campbell of Inverness, FL, Michael (Joanne) Ponkey of Waterford, MI, Larry Ponkey and his significant other, Ronald E. Moore of Jacksonville, FL, William Ponkey of Palm Coast, FL, and Gary Ponkey of Holly, MI; sisters Vivian Boughner of Gaylord, MI, and Beatrice Morales of Kansas; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Judith A Powers, 74, Crystal River, FL
Judith (Judy) Anne Powers, 74 of Crystal River passed into God’s arms on March 19, 2016 surrounded by love and in the comfort of God’s presence.  Judy was born on July 24, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Edward and Anna (Drum) Goodwin and was preceded in death by one sister Roberta Goodwin.  Judy shared a special bond with her other sister Joanne Wright (Danny) as they were born on the same day, 15 years apart.  She was an amazing woman that set the example for so many.    Judy married the love of her life, John, in 1966 and they were married for an amazing 49 years.  They lived in NJ, but ventured off to Alaska, making some great memories of their early married years together. She later moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where she was blessed to raise her three children and see them raise families of their own. Judy was a devoted mother that loved her children John Powers (Christine) of Hammonton, NJ, Jennifer Marx (John) of Dover, DE and James Powers (Mirella) of Miami, FL with all her being.  She  had a special love for her seven grandchildren: Ysabella, Daniel, Caden John, Jimmy, Elizabeth, Ryen and Zoè. Her grandbabies always brought a smile to her lips and a light to her eyes. Judy had a heart of giving and had a beautiful spirit that enveloped her.  She was always helping others and dedicated many hours to Girl Scouts, band and other school activities that her children were involved in.  She absolutely loved young children, reading trashy romance novels, hot dogs and eating sweets.  In her later years, Judy developed Alzheimer’s, but the spirit of who she was never left her.  She had a blessed, beautiful and happy life and has now been called to do the same in Heaven.  Judith’s urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at a later date.  A Memorial Prayer Service and Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Chas E. Davis Funeral Home at 11:00 AM.  The family will receive friends starting at 10:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.


Richard D Pruett, 62, Inverness, FL
Richard Deward Pruett 62, Inverness died at home suddenly Feb 24, 2016. Deward was born on June 17, 1953 in Ft Myers, FL to the late Jefferson and Estelle V. (Akers) Pruett and moved to this area from St Petersburg. He was the former owner and operator of Done Rite Hardwood Flooring Company in Inverness, being a skilled wood floor installer for several years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding his Harley, but most of all, spending time with his wife, Sharon. He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Casey) Pruett; 2 step sons, Timothy and Rickey Herndon; a brother, Billy Pruett, and 6 grandchildren. Deward's life will be remembered at a gathering on Saturday, Feb. 27th from 2-6 PM at Pott's Preserve, 2988 N. Hooty Point Rd., Inverness. Joseph T Rondini, 65, Hernando, FL
Joseph T. Rondini, 65, of Hernando, FL passed away February 14, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital, Inverness, FL. He was born in New Britain, CT on March 15, 1950 to the late Anio and Fanny (Bushemi) Rondini. Joseph was a car restoration mechanic, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He arrived in this area 10 years ago, coming from Connecticut. He was a Catholic by faith, and enjoyed rebuilding cars, fishing, boating, and the outdoors. He is survived by his loving wife of 9 years, Debbie Rondini. Other survivors include children Joseph Michael Rondini of Dunnellon, FL, and Danielle Rondini of Crystal River, FL; siblings Anio Rondini, Rena La France, and Anna Drago; and one grandchild, Emily. A Graveside service with military honors is scheduled for Friday, February 26, 11:00 A.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The procession will depart the funeral home at 10:15 A.M. and friends are invited to attend.

Charles Wallace Ruprecht, 81 of Inverness, died Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Lecanto. Born on September 24, 1934 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Walter and Pauline Ruprecht. He arrived in this area in 1997 coming from Palos Hills, Illinois. Mr. Ruprecht was a U.S. Army veteran, and a retired police officer with the Bridgeview, Illinois Police Department. He was a 32nd degree mason with the Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 and the Chicago Shrine Temple; the Inverness Eagles Aerie #3992; the Chicago American Legion Post 207; the Inverness Elks Lodge and the Citrus Masonic Lodge # 118. Charles was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Jeanne, on November 18, 2012. He is survived by his sons: Charles (Dawn) Ruprecht of Illinois, and Scott Ruprecht of Indiana; his daughters: Dianna (Wayne) Davison of Illinois, and Robyn Rachal of Indiana; step-children: David James of Illinois, and Debra James of Wisconsin; special niece: Kristin Clause of Inverness; special friends: April Watson of Michigan, Dale and Tina Boggess of Inverness; and his brother William (Donna) Bixler of Texas; 13 Grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Bud was born August 3, 1921 in Camden, NJ to the late Winfield and Maryann (Hummell) Rust and moved here in 1998 from Moorestown, NJ. He retired from Johnson-Towers, Inc. as a marketing and dealer development manager with 42 years of service. Pericles Schmaltz, 83, Inverness died Jan 22, 2016 at his residence. A native of Brazil, he was born Sept 15, 1932 to the late Ernesto and Maria (Flores) Schmaltz and came to his area from New Jersey. He was the former owner and operator of Elite Printing Company. Left to mourn his loss is his son, Daniel Schmaltz of Apopka, FL; a grandson, Kevin Schmaltz of Apopka; his wife, Nilda Schmaltz of Inverness; 1 sister,, Elelsa of Brazil. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bene Schmaltz on Dec 3, 2013. Henry A Schroder, 89, Inverness, FL
Henry Andrew (Hal) Schroder, 89, died peacefully at his home in Inverness on March 23, 2016. His death was full of integrity, as was his life. He passed from this life without fuss or medical intervention, per his wishes. Hal lived by a morality that was part southern gentleman, part sportsman/scholar and part practical theology. He ascribed to the adage “Do Unto Others As You Would Have Others Do Unto You”. This creed was passed on to his seven children, who he raised with his wife of 53 years, Della Umstead Schroder. Della predeceased Hal in December of 2000. He was born to Henry A. and Pauline B. Schroder on October 6, 1926 in Rock Hill, SC. Hal’s school age years were spent in Durham, NC where his father was pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and his mother was an English teacher at Carr Junior High School. After graduation from Durham High School, Hal served in the Army Air Corps, returning afterwards to graduate from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC with a degree in English. His professional life combined his vocation as an English teacher with his love of sports. He served as athletic director and coach of football, basketball, golf and baseball at the high school level. Hal taught at Hilliard High School in Hilliard, FL and Fletcher High School in Jacksonville Beach. In Broward County Hal taught and coached at St. Thomas Aquinas HS, Stranahan HS and South Plantation HS. He retired from teaching and coaching in 1986 and moved to Citrus County. Hal and Della shared a love of the beauties of nature, and enjoyed camping in FL and the US with friends and family. They spent many happy summers at a spot on Peachtree Creek in Murphy, NC where they shared this love with their seven grandchildren. In Citrus County Hal continued to pursue his hobbies of golfing, biking and furniture repair and refinishing. He was a lifelong reader and kept his mind sharp doing crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy nightly. He will be sorely missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie Julia Schuler, 100 years old, of Inverness, FL, passed away on February 12, 2016, surrounded by the caring staff of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Inverness. She was born on February 8, 1916, to the late Paul and Sophie (Garaj) Jakup, in North Emporia, Virginia. Marie had recently celebrated her Centennial Birthday with family and friends. Before moving to Citrus County from Long Island, New York, in 2004, Marie was a Secretary at IT & T. She loved to read, enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo with friends, and participated in numerous social activities. She is survived by her three daughters: Virginia Hartsell, North Carolina; Jean Schuler, Inverness, Florida; Elaine (Fred Palmer) Schuler, Massachusetts. Three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. Marie will be laid to rest at The Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York. Mildred V Schutz, 93, Lecanto, FL
Mildred Viola Schutz, 93, of Lecanto, FL, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2016 while under hospice care in her home at Brentwood Assisted Living, Lecanto, FL. Mildred was born on February 24, 1922 in Greenville, IL to the late Wilbur and Bertha (Wilderman) Stanton. She proudly served her country in the United States Army Air Corp in World War II; was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison, NJ and worked for Marine Colloids (Springfield, NJ) and Madis Labs (Hackensack, NJ) before her retirement. In 1997, Mildred relocated from Saddle Brook, NJ to Citrus County, FL. A woman of faith, she was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Lecanto. Mildred loved the great outdoors and spent much of her time gardening, hiking, camping and canoeing. She even had the opportunity to hike and camp in Europe. Mildred was a member of the Union County (NJ) Hiking Club, the Sierra Club, and the Appalachian Mountain Club. She loved to travel and enjoyed road trips and train trips as often as possible. Since moving to Citrus County, Mildred was involved with the sewing circle and other activities in her church, and volunteered at the hospice thrift store. Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her daughter, Carolyn Joyce Wertz of Hernando, FL; stepdaughter, Nancy Makowski of Phillipsburg, NJ; granddaughter, Susan Makowski of Annandale, NJ; brother, Floyd Stanton of Hillsboro, IL; sister-in-law, Jan Evans of Fairview Heights, IL. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Charles Maynard Shaffer, Sr., 84, Virginia Beach, VA and winter resident of Inverness, died suddenly February 10, 2016 in Citrus Memorial Hospital. Chuck was born on June 10, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles E. and Frances (Maynard) Shaffer and was a seasonal resident of Inverness. He retired from the City of Norfolk's Fire Department with 37 years of service and was the owner-operator of Shaffer's Towing and Repair in Norfolk. Kenneth D Sheldon, 96, Lecanto, FL
Kenneth D. Sheldon, 96, of Lecanto, FL, died on January 30, 2016 surrounded by the caring staff of Brookdale Citrus ALF in Lecanto. Kenneth was born in Honor, Michigan on April, 19, 1919 to the late George and Cornelia (Bates) Sheldon . He was one of nine children, all of whom preceded him in death. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Balch. After the War, he met the love of his life, Virginia Lee Deal. They spent 60 wonderful years together before her passing on July 26, 2010. Before coming to Florida with his wife in 1985, he was employed as a tool & die worker in the automotive industry. Mr. Sheldon is survived by a Son, Kenneth (Annette) Blanchard of Lowell, Michigan; a great niece that he loved as a daughter, Lois Marie Lesch; Six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Paul K Simpson, 92, Inverness, FL
Paul Kay Simpson, age 92, of Inverness, FL died on February 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of HPH Hospice, Lecanto. Paul was born on February 25, 1924 in Monette, AR to the late Edgar and Willie (Hartsell) Simpson. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy and was a Veteran of World War II and the Korean War. In 1985, Paul relocated to Florida with his family from Hawaii. He loved the time he spent in Hawaii and always hoped he could return there someday. Paul had also resided in Pennsylvania and Harrison, Arkansas. He worked as a sharecropper while living in Arkansas, and spent many days in the cotton fields with his 9 siblings picking cotton. Paul was a longtime member of the Elks and the American Legion. He was a carpenter by trade, and especially enjoyed woodworking. In his spare time he enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne movies. He also enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show. Paul will be remembered as a wonderful loving man, an awesome father and a free spirit. Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are two daughters, Paula Kay Simpson of Inverness, FL and Betty Kay Barroso of Houston, TX; his son, John Simpson of Houston, TX; his son, Mark Simpson and his wife Brenda of Ocala, FL; one sister, Suda of Monette, AR. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughters, Kendra Kay Marolf and Krysta Jaye Marolf, who were by his side with their mother Paula upon his passing. His great granddaughter, Raina Jaye Vincelli will miss her PaPa as well. He also leaves behind grandsons, Ian, Sean and Ryan. Beloved nephews, David Fletcher, Carl Fletcher and niece, Patsy Eggers. Precious granddaughter, Jody Fiore, her husband James, son Austin and daughter, Teyiah. Paul is also survived by his former wife, Marian E. Simpson. While she and Paul were divorced, they continued to reside in the same home, under the caregiving of Pauls daughter, Paula Simpson. He was preceded in death by his two first lovely wives, Imogene and his second wife, Lavelma. Paul chose to go home to his beloved Arkansas where his only surviving sibling, Suda Reeves, her daughter, Sue and her husband Martin still reside. He will be laid to rest at the Birdeye Veterans Cemetery, Birdeye, AR, at a later date. A special message to her father from Paula: You were ten feet tall, made of steel but, soft as a summer rain. Herman A Sinemus, 91, Floral City, FL
Herman A. Sinemus, age 91, of Floral City, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2016. Herman was born on December 31, 1924 around 1:30 p.m. during a snow storm in Derry Township, Westmoreland County, PA to the late Herman C. (1977) and Mary R. (Gamble) Sinemus (2000). Dr. Watkins had difficulty getting his Model T started so Herman's father used his own Model T to retrieve the doctor so he could bring Herman safely into the world. He graduated from Derry Township High School in 1942 at 17 years of age. Herman gained employment as a painter of some of the Carnegie-Illinois steel mills in the Pittsburgh area until he joined the United States Marine Corp in September, 1943. He proudly served his country and was a Veteran of World War II. Herman was awarded three battle stars for action against the enemy at Okinawa, Borneo and Tokyo. After his military service, he returned to Pennsylvania. He wanted to be a civil engineer and attended the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, IN. He graduated in 1948 with a Bachelors of Civil Engineering Degree that he obtained in 30 consecutive months, all while working at least 20 hours per week. Herman's professional career was in Traffic Engineering and he served three cities in 30 years: Fort Wayne, IN, Phoenix, AZ and Berkeley, CA. He was a Lifetime Fellow Member in the Institute of Traffic Engineering, a Registered Professional Engineer in Indiana for over 50 years and a Registered Traffic Engineer in California. Herman met his first wife Virginia "Jeannie" Wessel in East McKeesport, PA after they had both joined the Marines. They were married for five years. Herman then met May Eleanor Bracht at a YWCA mixer in Fort Wayne, IN. On May 7, 1949, he married May, the love of his life, and they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage until her passing on March 31, 2013. They moved to Florida in 1985 from Berkeley, CA to spend their retirement together in Floral City. A Christian by faith, he was a very active and willing participating member of the Floral City United Methodist Church. Herman was a kind man who always went out of his way to help others and those in need. He also enjoyed working on cars and photography in his spare time. Left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are his daughter, Nancy (David) Fleming of Reisterstown, MD two sons: Andrew Sinemus of Edison, NJ and his ex Leslie Sinemus of Milburn, NJ, Mark Sinemus of Floral City, FL; grandchildren: Stephanie J. (Erik) Hrin of Alexandria, VA, Laura Rebecca (Adam) Barron of Leesburg, VA, Zachery Sinemus of Brooklyn, NY and Samuel Sinemus of Milburn, NJ. Carl S Steelfox, 84, Inverness, FL
Carl Samuel Steelfox, 84, of Inverness, FL, died January 18, 2016 in Inverness. Carl was born October 5, 1931 in Butler Township, PA to the late John Samuel and Thelma (Romberger) Steelfox. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. On October 25, 1952 Carl married the love of his life, Joan Dufresne, with whom he shared over 58 wonderful years of marriage. In 1972, they relocated to Citrus County from Middlebury, CT. Carl was a founding member of the Middlebury, CT Rifle Club and a member of the Algonquin Archery Club. After relocating to Inverness, he owned and operated CJ's Hobbies and Crafts for many years. Carl was also a member of the Inverness Moose Lodge and the Citrus County RC Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, building RC airplanes and model trains. Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are four sons: David (Janet) Steelfox of Las Vegas, NV, Carl (Susan) Steelfox of Inverness, FL, John (Theresa) Steelfox of Hernando, FL and Donald (Margaret) Steelfox of Beverly Hills, FL; his daughter, Karen (Phillip) Rook of Inverness, FL; sister, Sandra (Larry) Bosca of White Lake, MI; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife Joan, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Shuda. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 23, at Cornerstone Baptist Church, Inverness, at 3:00 p.m. with the Reverend Greg Kell officiating. A graveside service with full military honors provided by Inverness VFW Post #4337 will be held Monday, January 25, 9:30 a.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Roland Steinhauser, 72, Hernando, FL
Roland "Rol" Steinhauser, 72, of Hernando, FL, passed away March 3, 2016 under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto, FL. He was born in Chicago, IL on February 21, 1944 to the late Vernon Edward and Lillian Hildegard (Weiss) Steinhauser. He was on the swim team at Harper High School and he attended Wayne State College in Wayne Nebraska where earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He met his future wife, Mary Margaret Hanson and they were married in Chicago in 1969. Roland was a history teacher in the Chicago Public Schools for over 30 years. He was the Urban Fishing Program Coordinator with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources; a program that brought local children to the lakes and lagoons in the greater Chicagoland area, where he taught kids how to fish. It was his lifelong passion and his greatest joy. He was an avid sportsman who loved the outdoors. He held several executive positions in the Midwest Muskie Club, and helped organize fishing tournaments, picnics and also raised money to stock game fish in several mid-western lakes. He one of the three founding members of the Illini Muskies Alliance. He was recognized by the Department of Natural Resources for his tireless work in preserving, protecting and enhancing natural resources. He was awarded the Outdoor Notebook Lifetime Achievement Award for "dedication and perseverance in introducing thousands to the sport of fishing." He moved to Florida in 2003. He continued to promote education and conservation, organizing and assisting with kids fishing events. His local memberships included the Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge #2112, Inverness, FL; Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #4194, Cedar Key, FL; and American Legion Post #237, Beverly Hills, FL. Rol always used to say "If you give a man a fish, he will eat for a day. If you teach him to fish, he will eat for the rest of his lifetime.". He dedicated his life to ensuring people could do so. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Steinhauser, in November of 2015, one daughter, Karen Margaret Steinhauser and one grandson, Sean O'Keeffe. He is survived by his daughters, Phyllis (Rodney Sweet) Steinhauser of Chicago, IL, Rebecca Quinn of Chesterton, IN, and Katherine (Michael) Erhardt of Chicago Ridge, IL; one brother, Gary Steinhauser of Lombard, IL; one sister, Phyllis Collins of Tinley Park, IL; grandchildren Kimberly and Georgia Erhardt of Chicago Ridge, IL, and Ian and Kathleen Quinn of Chesterton, IN. Robert Paul Steuterman, 77, of Beverly Hills, FL passed away January 11, 2016. He was born in Worcester, MA. April 22, 1938 to Henry and Theresa Steuterman, as one of five children. Robert served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, a military career that spanned over 22 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Shawn Steuterman; and a brother, David Steuterman. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Diana F. (Clough) Steuterman of Pine Ridge, FL; three sisters, Janet Allard of Jupiter, FL, Judy Martin of Worcester, MA, and Terri Hopkins of Cape Cod, MA. Lloyd D. Vann, 79, of Floral City, FL passed away February 10, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL. He was born on October 5, 1936 in Ino, AL to the late Collie O. and Essie Bell (Harrison) Vann. Lloyd was a roofer in the construction industry, and arrived in this area in 1969, coming from Alabama. He was a Baptist by faith, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2009. Survivors include his son, Anthony Lloyd Vann; step-son Robert (Joyce) Gallagher, Inverness; 2 grandchildren, Robert and Ashley; 2 great-grandchildren, Grace and Cheyanne; his good friend, "Indian", friend and caregiver, Bill Gorton, and all his good hunting friends from Gulf Hammocks. Beverly Jo Volmar, age 60, of Floral City, FL, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2016 surrounded by her loving family and while under the care of the staff of HPH Hospice, Lecanto. Beverly was born on June 2, 1955 in Frankfort, KY to the late Norton and Thelma Lou (Hockensmith) Sudduth. She proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force. Beverly moved to the Citrus County area 25 years ago from St. Petersburg. She was a member of the Floral City VFW Post #7122, and was also their bookkeeper. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and working in her yard where she could plant flowers and plants. Beverly was very handy and had worked very hard to fix up her home. She loved animals, especially horses. Beverly will be remembered for her independent nature, her big heart, her generosity and cool character. She was someone who rarely got angry, took life in stride and was a wonderful, loving and generous person. Left to mourn her passing and cherish her precious memory are her daughter, Jennifer Jenkins of Seminole, FL; two brothers, Paul (Joanne) Sudduth of Brooksville, FL and George (Pamela) Sudduth of St. Petersburg, FL; and her sister, Terry Duncan of Oldsmar, FL. Karen T. Waters, age 59, of Inverness, passed away at Shands at UF Gainesville, on March 12, 2016. She was born on February 13, 1957, in Commack, N.Y. She spent her life giving to all around her, She was a loving and devoted wife, mother of 6, and grandmother to 7 beautiful granddaughters. She owned and operated the Gallop Press, and won numberous awards as a journalist. A proud Florida Gator, she has spent the last 10 years educating young minds at Crystal River Middle School. She is survived by her husband, Scott Waters; her 6 children: Nicholas Vihrachoff, Christopher Vihrachoff, David Waters, Dawn Marie Vihrachoff, Kimberly Vihrachoff, and Katherine Waters; her mother, Muriel Stephens; her 2 brothers, Roger and Ronnie; 2 sisters, Debbie and Doreen; 7 granddaughters. Karen's life will be remembered at A Celebration of Life Service Wednesday, March 16th (today) at 3:00 PM at the New Church Without Walls in Hernando. Chester J White, 85, Inverness, FL
Chester J. "Chet" White, 85, Inverness passed away suddenly March 18, 2016. Chet was born March 30, 1930 in Georgetown, KY to the late Willie and Clara (Whitten) White, one of nine children. He moved to Citrus County in 1978 from Columbus, OH and began many years of community service. He and his wife Shirley founded the Stanley Steemer franchise in Citrus County, eventually expanding to adjoining states. Chet became involved in politics and was elected to the Citrus Board of County Commissioners (1990-1994). His other affiliations included Inverness Rotary Club, Invernesss Elks Lodge, and the Citrus County Zoning and Water boards. He served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Shirley (Reaster) White; two children, Chet White and his wife, Jo of Inverness and Marilyn Coughlin and husband Terry of Tallahassee; 1 brother, Harold White, Augusta, GA; 4 grandchildren, Robert (Leslie) Thimmes, Brandie (Matt) Ballard, C.J. (Natalie) White and Tyler (Ashley) Thimmes, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 6 brothers and and one sister. Robert was born on July 31, 1941, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Cornelius and Marjorie Emma (Karnatz) Whiting. After meeting and marrying his wife of almost 24 years, Louise Ruth Oliver, of Okeechobee, they moved to Citrus County where they lived for 23 years. Robert enjoyed fishing, NASCAR races, working on cars, and tinkering at his shop in his garage. Donald E. Whitmer, age 82, of Inverness, FL died March 18, 2016 while under the care of Hospice of Citrus County. Donald was born on January 27, 1934 in Canton, OH to the late Kenneth and Emma (Harter) Whitmer. On September 7, 1973, he married Eleanor Pruett, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage until her passing on September 29, 2014. Donald was employed by the Central States Can Company of Massillon, OH as a Tool and Die Maker for twenty five years. In 1997, he and Eleanor moved from Massillon, OH and made their home in Citrus County. A man of faith, Donald was a member of the Inverness Church of God. He was a member of the N.R.A., American Legion, a volunteer with the Citrus Co. Sheriff's Academy, and a Resource Officer. Alfred "Bud" W Williams, 89, Inverness, FL
Alfred "Bud" Warner Williams, age 89, of Inverness, FL, died February 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family and while under the care of the staff of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, Lecanto. Bud was born on September 24, 1926 in Mt. Jackson, VA to the late Leonard and Maude (Fadley) Williams. On June 23, 1946, he married Mary Goodwin, with whom he shared 69 wonderful years of marriage. Earlier in his life, Bud worked at Hercules Powder Company (ABL) as a welder but, eventually he was employed as an airline mechanic for Eastern Airlines where he worked for over 20 years. In 1991, he and Mary relocated to Inverness from Hollywood, FL. A man of faith, Bud was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Inverness. He loved the game of golf. He even had the opportunity to Marshall for many of the Eastern Airlines PGA golf tournaments at the Doral Country Club in the 70's. Bud also had a very artistic side and expressed his creativity through woodworking. Bud enjoyed good food and a good meal shared with family and friends. He was a dedicated family man. A protective and loving husband and a devoted and caring father. In addition to his wife Mary, those left to mourn Bud's passing and cherish his precious memory are his daughter, Marcia Williams Scaggs and her husband, Larry of Inverness, FL; and one grandson, Douglas William Scaggs of Raleigh, NC. Steven Porter Williamson, 67, of Hernando, FL passed away March 23, 2016 at his residence in Hernando. He was born in Logansport, IN on December 14, 1948 to the late Norman and Edna Mae (Overmyer) Williamson. Steven arrived in this area in 1982, coming from Arizona. He attended House of Power Church in Hernando, and was working for the church at the time of his passing. Steven enjoyed building and dismantling motors, and dining at McDonald's and Taco Bell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Williamson; and siblings Lawrence J. Williamson, Sr., Joyce Linton, and Lora Lee Williamson. Survivors include his brother, W.H. Margaret Mary Wolfert, 85, Inverness passed away March 16, 2016. Mrs Wolfert was born March 10, 1931 in Manistique, MI to the late Floyd and Emily Welch and moved here from Tampa in 1994. She was employed as a bookeeper for the Builders Association and was of the Catholic Faith. Survivors include her husband, Gerry Wolfert whom she married in 1976. Others left to mourn her loss is her son, Steven Jordan of White, GA; her sister, Safronia McKenzie, Manistique, MI; 9 grand and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, James Joseph Jordan, her daughter, Penny Jordon Wong and her sister, Evelyn. Tandy Lee Wood, age 85, of Hernando, FL, died on February 23, 2016. Tandy was born on November 3, 1930 in Olcott, WV, to the late Roma and Ruby (Cash) Wood. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Second Class and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Tandy relocated with his family from Ravenswood, WV to Florida in 1985. In his spare time he loved to fish. Tandy also enjoyed a good game of golf as well as spending precious time with his grandchildren. He was a generous, caring and kind man, with a big heart. Tandy would go out of his way to help families in need and was a supporter of St. Judes Children's Hospital. Donald Lloyd Wykoff, 87, of Inverness, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast in Inverness, FL on March 15, 2016. He was born on February 15, 1929, in Erie, PA to the late Lloyd Francis and Katherine (Weber) Wykoff. Donald was a WWII Vetern, and served in the U.S. Navy. After he was honorably discharged, he went into the automotive industry as a salesman. He met Beverly Chatley, love of his life, and were married for 53 loving years. In 1986, they moved from Meadville, PA to Citrus County, FL. He enjoyed going Bowling, Scuba Diving, and Birdwatching. William "Bill" O. Youmans, age 79, of Floral City, FL, died on February 24, 2016. Bill was born on March 5, 1936 in Washington, D.C. to the late Ezra and Mabel (Hurdlebrink) Youmans. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. In 1985, Bill moved to Citrus County from Silver Spring, MD. He and his late wife owned an operated an antique and depression glass business for a time. Bill was an avid pilot and had his pilot's license. He was a classic car enthusiast and a Harley Davidson owner and rider. Bill was technichally skilled and able to engineer solutions for repairs to anything that didn't have a spare part. He also loved to fish in his spare time. Those left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his son, William Curtis Youman of Floral City, FL; his daughter, Sylvia (Zack) Sayre of Floral City, FL; and three sisters, Margaret, Katherine and Monna. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 28 years, Myrtice "Candy" Youmans, on June 1, 2008. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with private cremation arrangements.

Katelyn Jean Zimmerman, age 14, Inverness died unexpectedly on Monday, March 7, 2016 as the result of an accident. Katelyn was born on July 17, 2001 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania to Shawn D. Zimmerman and Rhonda Crouse. She was an excellent student in the 8th grade at Inverness Middle School. Katelyn was a giving and generous person who loved to laugh, enjoyed fishing and loved the outdoors. Those left to mourn her passing and cherish her precious memory are her mother, Rhonda Crouse; her father, Shawn Zimmerman; her brother, Dylan James Zimmerman; two sisters, Heather Nicole Crouse and Savannah Kay Zimmerman; her maternal grandmother, Pamela Crouse; paternal grandmother, Charlene Sweigart; paternal grandfather, Gerald Zimmerman; and step-grandfather, Dale Sweigart. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Richard Crouse. Katelyn's life will be remembered at a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Calvary Chapel in Inverness (next door to the Chas E Davis Funeral Home) with The Rev. Kevin Ballard officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. In order to help others and to honor Katelyn's memory, her organs were donated so that others may live. Chas E Davis Funeral Home With Crematory is assisting the family.
